MODIFIED SEASON WRAP

Here is the 2011 / 2012 Randy’s Raceway Modified season wrap up.  We had 34 racers compete in the headline division in 15 shows during the season.  Nine drivers made all 15 races.  I will review the top 20 in points and also have career stats included with the summaries.

20th  SAM SOBOEWSKI  Sam ran with us 3 times and is Bretts buddy.  He learned real quick and seemed to get better each time out.

19th  LARRY SANDERS   Larry made in in for 3 races this season and has been working on his tyco program trying to get the set up just right.  Larry just missed the top ten on all three runs finishing 11th each time.

18th  NICK WUMMER   Nick ran the early part of the season before he got involved with a job that limited his attendance here.  Nick races hard and had a top 10 this season. [Read more...]

Schedule and Rules Meeting

Randy’s Raceway held it’s season ending rules meeting Tuesday night April 17th discussing several topics, the group included Bob Amore, Corey Bailey, Jim Levan, Scott Bender, Brian Kisthardt and Mark & Jodi Williams. Shane Hiester, Jim Levan Score Season Ending Wins

It was the final Cup race of the season on the Tri-Oval, and Shane Hiester capped off the year with his 3rd straight Cup win, scoring 3 segment wins, and locking up his 1st Cup championship at Randy’s Raceway. Sheldon Hiester scored 4 segment wins to keep alive his season long string of Top 5′s, came home 3rd. Randy Haydt scored 2 segment wins in his Skoal Bandit #33 finishing 3rd. Jim Levan scored 1 segment win to finish 4th, he also had all Top5 finishes during the year. Bob Amore closed out the Top 5 with a steady run including a segment win on Lane 2. [Read more...]

Hiester’s Double Up

Shane Hiester made it 2 straight Cup wins this time on the Short Track. Running the Dupont#24 Shane scored 3 segment wins, on way to his 3rd Cup checkered flag of the year. Just 6 pieces of track behind Jim Levan scored 5 segment wins coming in a close 2nd. Billy Decker scored 1 segment win, his 3rd top 5 finish of the year for a 3rd place run. Making his 1st Cup start Tim “BigT” Bowers scored 2 segment wins turning in a good 4th place finish. Williams Wins Sixth Feature

Mark Williams won his sixth Modified feature of this season and locked up the season points championship.  Williams ran the pink Kenny Gilmore prepared tyco sweeping all eight lanes with only 5 falloffs.  17 racers were on hand and Shane Hiester ran a strong race winning his first 5 segments to grab 2nd on the evening.  Sheldon Hiester won on lane 1 and then turned in steady runs the rest of the way grabbing third spot.  Fourth was Brett Gilmore in his #7 followed by Toby Reinhard who picked up his first modified segment win of the season and a real strong top 5 finish.  Sixth through tenth were Bill Brenner, Jim Levan, Eric Beard, Tony Z and veteran Mike Feltenberger in his Bulllock #76.

Modified Madness

Veteran Bill Brenner had a good run in the Beard #18 bringing it home 6th in the next too last race for this season.  Tony Z also won a segment in the Billy Decker prepared #44.  Decker has fielded 2 strong modified teams all season and the combination of Bill and Tony has been a real surprise this year.  Good luck to that team the rest of this season and we hope they return as a team next year.  Cory Rienhard made his night a good one finishing 13th even though he did not feel taht good.  With the whole sppring ahead daylight savings time coming this weekend does anybody have a clue what the clocks at Randy’s raceway will look like on Tuesday night……………..

Jeff Gordon Scores Cup Win

The number 13 wasn’t bad luck to Jeff Gordon as the Cup stars returned to racing on the 8 lane Super Speedway at Randy’s Raceway. The Dupont # 24 was strong in the early going winning his 1st 6 segments on way to his 2nd win in this class. Less than 1 lap behind Ricky Craven piloted the Budweiser # 50 to 3 segment wins for a runner up finish. Dale Earnhardt Jr. made a rare appearance in his Busch car # 81 running steady all night winning 1 segment. Craven and Earnhardt Jr. did finish in a tie but give the spot to Craven because of more segment wins. [Read more...]

Williams Wins Modified Main Event

Mark Williams won his second feature in a row in the Modified division taking all 8 lanes on the big oval at Randy’s Raceway.  Second spot went to veteran Manheim racer Bill Brenner driving the Beard #18 winning 1 segment.  Third spot went to Jim Levan who took 3 segments followed closely by Scott Bender with 1 segment win to his credit.  Rounding out the top five was Eric Beard winner of 3 segments.  Toby Reinhard finished 6th with Shane Hiester and Sheldon Hiester 7th and 8th and Tony Z 9th with his car owner Bill Decker 10th.

Randy Wins Two

Tuesday night January 31, 2012 was the fifth race for the Sportsman and IROC divisions at Randy’s Raceway.  There were 15 racers on hand for the Sportsman portion of the night.  Randy Haydt swept the cat hair away to a two-victory night.  In the Sportsman Randy won 5 segments in route to the victory.  Second went to Fred McCullough who really has figured out the Tri-Oval.  Fred won 5 segments on the night.  Third went to point leader Shane Hiester.  Shane won 1 segment on the night.  Fourth went to Mark Williams.  Mark won 2 segments on the night in his Hiester prepared Sportsman.  Rounding out the top 5 was Sheldon Hiester.  Sheldon won 3 segments on the night.  [Read more...]

Gilmore Sweeps to Sprint Car Win

It was the 8th annual 40 lap Sprint car event and Kenny Gilmore again dominated this race winning all 8 segments on way to the win. Mark Williams scored 5 segment wins turning in 2nd place run. Sheldon Hiester had a good run scoring 2 segment wins for a 3rd place finish. Freddy Mac and Rookie Kevin Sponagle Claim Victories In Double Header

Tuesday Night we were up on the Tri-Oval for the first time this season with races for the Sportsman and IROC divisions. We had 10 racers on hand that participated in each event. In the Sportsman race Fred McCullough took the victory winning 4 of his 6 segments on road to his victory. Second went to Randy Haydt who won 1 segment in his strong run on the Tri-Oval.
