Jim LeVan, Randy Haydt Berk’s / Lebanon Series Champions

The Berk’s / Lebanon Modified Racing Series recently concluded it’s first season of racing, the 3 race season with a 2 division Series provided a lot of fun and some close action. Both the championships were decided by a total of 8 points. In the Big Block Series opener at ‘Little T’s ” speedway ti was Jim LeVan starting his championship run with a sweep to score the opening day win. Jim followed that win up with a 2nd place finish in race 2 at Randy’s Raceway. In race 3 at Woodland Raceway Jim closed out the Series with a 9th place finish just enough to win the Series by 2 points. Tim “Little T” Bowers opened the Series with a 4th place finish, than in the middle race of the Series Tim scored a 7th place finish. In the Series closer Tim turned in a convincing sweep on way to the win at Woodland Raceway just missing out on the title by 2 points, but a solid 2nd place finish in the final standing. He had 9 segment wins in the Series. Toby Reinhard and Mark Willams finished in a tie for 3rd. Toby collected two 3rd place finishes at Little T’s and at Woodland Raceway, along with 4 segment wins. Mark Williams opened the Series with a 5th place finish, than followed that up with a win in race 2 at Randy’s Raceway. At his home track Mark scored an 8th place finish to finish in a tie for 3rd. Mark also collected 7 segment wins in the Series. Closing out the Top 5 Cory Reinhard almost scored the win in the Series opener finishing 2nd, than came back with a solid 3rd place run in race 2, but a 15th place finish at Woodland Raceway moved Cory to 5th in the final standing. It was still a good Series finish to go along with His 9 segment wins.

Randy Haydt Wins Small Block Title

The action in the Small Block division was just as close as Randy Haydt scored the Small Block Championship by only 6 points. Randy won the title the hard way by not scoring a win in the Series. In the opener at “Little T’ Speedway Randy scored a 2nd place finish, followed that up with a 3rd place finish in race 2, than another 2nd place finish in the Series final race at Woodland Raceway. Randy scored 7 segment wins on way to the title. Tim “Little T” Bowers and Jim LeVan finished in a tie for the runner up spot. Tim scored 2 segment wins in the Small Block Series winning the opener and at Woodland Speedway, Tim also scored 12 segment wins. Jim Levan scored a pair of 4th place finishes along with a win in race 2 at Randy’s Raceway. Jim also scored the most segment wins with 13. Mark Williams opened the Series with a 3rd place run, following that up with an 11th place run in race 2, than a 8th place finish in the final race to hold on to the 4th spot by 1 point. Bill Rowley started off the Series with a pair of 5th place finishes than capped off the Series with a 12th place finish, for a good 5th place finish in the final totals.

Berk’s / Lebanon Series Notes

Good turnout with 50 entries in both classes almost 17 per race. Big Blocks had 3 different winners, Jim LeVan, Mark Williams, and Tim Bowers. The top 4 in points were separated by only 7 points. Both divisions had 10 different segment winners. Brian Sponagle missed the opener but got a 6th and 2nd place finish in the last 2 Big Block races. Dave Fitzgerald also missed the opener but had a good 4th  and 5th place finish in the last 2 races Small Block events.
