LeVan / Haydt Split Twin Bill

Veterans Jim LeVan and Randy Haydt won features this week at Randy’s Raceway.  LeVan captured the NASCAR feature, his second of the season winning all 6 lanes on the tough Tri-Oval.  Jim also only had 1 falloff enroute to his 14th career Cup feature win.  Second spot went to the season’s Point winner Mark Williams who scored 3 segment wins on the evening.  Third was Randy Haydt who also won 3 segments.  Brian Sponagle won 2 segments to come home 4th.  Rounding out the top 5 was Scott Bender. Billy Decker opening day winner wound up in 6th followed by Ed Kenderline and John Kosmoski.  Ninth spot was Boyertown High racer Cory Reinhard with Tom Wenner out of Blandon rounding out the top ten.

NASCAR News – 15 racers on hand for the season’s final race.  Great to see Tom Wenner get that first Cup segment win in lane three over some tough competition.  Jim LeVan finished the season in a flurry to move up into second place in points, passing Randy Haydt on the final night.  LeVan closed the year with 2 wins a second and a third in the final 4 shows.  Brian Sponagle had a good night although a bit of trouble cost him on lane 1.

Randy Haydt took the season ending IROC win, his third of the season in the Spoons prepared T-Jets.  Coupe bodies were the nights attraction.  Winner of 3 segments Haydt narrowly missed winning the championship in the final night of racing for the second straight year.  Mark Williams finished the night in second without any segment wins but held on to the Point Title by just 2 points this year.  Third spot went to Mr IROC Brian Sponagle.  Spoons won 1 segment in lane 6 in the Toby Tobias ride.  Fourth went to Cory Reinhard who won 2 segments and rounding out the top five was Jim LeVan who also won on lane 6.

IROC Happenings-  14 racers stayed for the IROC show with 9 different drivers winning segments.  Randy Haydt tried hard to win a second straight championship winding up the year just 2 points behind after winning last seasons title on the final night by 1 point.  All though there was some banging in the first segment things settled down after security was contacted via Facebook.  Over the seasons final 4 races Haydt had 2 wins and a second and third. Larry Sanders won a segment in the Show of Coupes.  This was Larry’s first segment win here at Randy’s Raceway.  A big thank you again to Brian Sponagle for providing the Coupes for the event.  A banquet night tradition has always been an informal IROC race which this year will be sponsored by Ed Kenderdine who is providing 8 cars for the evening.
