2nd Annual Bruce Heller Memorial Crash & Burn Tie Breaker to Sheldon Hiester

17 racers and a few more spectators showed up at Rich and Michele’s RMS Motorsports high speed oval for the 2nd Annual Bruce Heller Memorial being hosted by Rich and Michelle. $400 was raised by auctioning off parts and bodies donated by Bob Amore, Rich Schmidt and Mr. Bill from Northern California. Tires were donated as door prizes by the Hiester family as they have recently opened their family owned and operated silicone tire molding business.
Slightly modified T-jets skinned with sharp looking Bob Amore painted dirt mod bodies were raced IROC style on the oval. When all of the racing was complete and the scores were tallied, there was a tie for the win. As was announced at the drivers meeting, a ten lap crash & burn race with skinny-tired slower T-jets was run between Sheldon Hiester and Brett “the jet ” Reitz. It didn’t take long as on the first lap Brett blasted into turn 3 and crashed ending the race and giving the win to the more experienced Sheldon Hiester. Shane Hiester was 3rd, followed by Randy Jay Haydt in 4th, and Jim Levan in 5th.
Hot Dogs and chips were provided by Rich and Michelle, while great sweets baked by Moira Heller, Kathleen Roth and Corinne Heller were devoured by all in attendance.
News and Notes
Good luck to T-jet specialists Jeff and Jay who competed at the event even though they were leaving Monday to travel to California to race in the Fray. Special thanks to all who donated parts and bodies, and a special thanks to Tri-state Racing Club President Pete Barclay who, although he could not attend this year made a very generous donation to help us reach the $400 mark, which will be donated to the Tri-County Hospice in Pottstown, Pa. who cared for Bruce up until the end.
