Mark Williams Claims Sprint Title

This years sprint car season also was a very competitive class as the point title was won by only 7 points, and other spots in the top 5 were not decided until the final race:

After the 1st 4 races you might have thought the battle for the point title would have been settled, as Mark Williams started the season winning the 1st 4 races in convincing fashion. Mark also recorded 3 other top 5 finishes capping off a strong season to win the Sprint car point championship, by only 7 points.Staying close all year and nearly winning the title, Jim Levan ran his bright orange #1 to a runner up finish in the final standing. Jim scored back-to-back mid-season wins, and 8 other top 5 finishes. Missing out of a 2nd place finish by only 3 points, Shane Heister used a big 2nd half of the season including 2 wins in the final 3 races along with 5 other top 5 runs on way to a 3rd place finish. Randy Haydt ran his beautifully painted Skoal Bandit #33 to 1 win, and 6 other top 5 finishes on way to a 4th place finish, by only 3 points. Closing out the top 5, Sheldon Hiester used 5 3rd place finishes and 8 top 5 runs capping off a steady season.

WINGS AND WRECKS

A good year of winged racing as 22 points only separated the top 5 finishers. Running his 1st season in sprints Brian Vanbuskirk scored 1 top 10 finish and a 10th place overall finish. After missing the opening 2 races Billy Decker scored a career best 2nd place finish, while climbing to a 11th place finish. Nick Wummer also scored a career best 5th place finish in the season final race. Congratulations to Kenny Gilmore as he again won the annual 40 lap race.
