Sheldon Heister Takes Fifth Modified Win

Randy’s Raceway veteran Sheldon Hiester won 3 segments on his way to feature win number 5 this season at the Berks County Oval.  For Hiester the win was a tough one as he battled the track and tough competition on the lower lanes and won on lanes 4, 5, and 7.  21 Racers were on hand so the format switched to 15 lappers with 4 falloffs.  We had a few really close races with multiple cars in the hunt.  Second spot went to Shane Hiester who won lanes 1 thru 4 before someone knocked him off the unbeaten track.  Third spot in a really strong run went to Exeter’s Mike Fitzgerald.  Fitz won three lanes and was only 11 pieces behind Shane at the finish. Fourth spot was Mark Williams in the Sheldon Hiester mount.  Willaims won 2 segments and had only 2 falloffs on the evening.  Rounding out the top five in a rare appearance was Big T.  T won 1 lane but was real fast and in contention with many of the Randy’s regulars.  The rest of the top ten went like this, 6th-Bryan Kisthart, 7th-Mike Feltenberger, 8th-Toby Reinhard, 9th-Billy Decker and 10th-Bob Amore.

Randy’s Ramblings
Strong performances turned in by Bryan Kisthart and Mike Fitzgerald.  To show how tough the competition is this year at Randy’s the last modified feature winner Eric Beard could not crack the top ten this week and came home 12th.  Another top 5 runner Jim Levan had an off night, as his usual strong running mount looked a bit down on hp.  It was great having Bob Amore back again and we hope it becomes a regular thing as we really missed his sense of humor while he was out.  Rumors flying about Bear and a possible retirement from slot cars, I think that would be his third retirement.  Also Randy is rumored to be ready to sign a major deal to have a sponsor for next season and run the Modified class. And watch out for Cory Bailey coming to a victory lane soon.  We missed Scott Bender this week still nursing his back injury.  Also a big get well to Linda Decker we hope she is feeling better.  And finally it was great having two really nice guys Bill Rowley and Gary Hetrick on hand this week to race with us.  They are both gentleman and enjoy the hobby.
