Sheldon Hiester Takes 2

NASCAR Cup racing returned to Randy’s Raceway with Twin 15’s on the 8 lane speedway and Sheldon Hiester turned in a sweep. In the opener running a good looking Dupont #24 Sheldon scored 3 segment wins on way to win number 2 of the Cup season. Less than 1 lap behind Shane Hiester also scored 3 segment wins on lanes 4 – 6 to finish 2nd. Bryan Kisthart rebounded well from a slow start on lanes 1 & 2, to win his final 4 segments to finish 3rd. Jim Levan scored 1 segment win to finish 4th, his 4th top 5 of the season. Billy Decker turned in his best Cup finish of the season with a strong 5th place finish….

( 6 – 10 ) – 6th Scott Bender /  7th Randy Haydt / 8th Brian Sponagle / 9th Adam Zappacosta / 10th Brian Vanbuskirk.

Race2: Sheldon Hiester turned in another strong effort winning his 1st 4 segments on way to a close win, his 3rd of the Cup season. Only 18 pieces of track behind Bryan Kisthart keep his string of Top 5’s alive with a 2nd place run, winning 3 segments. Jim Levan scored a segment win on lane 3, to cap off a good night with a 3rd place finish. Scott Bender ran his M & M’s #38 to a 4th place finish. Shane Hiester scored 2 segment wins early but developed handling problems on the outer lanes but still held on for a 5th place finish….

( 6 – 10 ) Billy Decker ( 1win ) / 7th Randy Haydt / 8th Brian Sponagle /  9th Brian Vanbuskirk / 10th Tony Zappacosta.

FINISH LINES:

Good to see Adam Z back with us and he ran real good with no crash out’s and a 9th place finish in the opener. Jim Levan had a good night with 2 Top 5’s, and a segment win in race 2. Billy Decker also had a good night with a Top 5 in race 1, and 1 segment win in race 2. Sheldon was the 1st repeat winner in Cup action this year. The racing field was missing Mark Williams, Toby and Cory Reinhard we hope to see them back next week. Finally Randy Haydt was checked out OK after a trip to the infield Care Center after hitting his head on a pipe and opening a slight cut.
