Wenner Scores Career First / LeVan Takes IROC Nightcap

The wait was well worth it for Blandon Racer Tom Wenner as he scored a victory in the NASCAR Feature on the Tough Tub.  Wenner is considered a rookie this season and he raced to his first ever win at Randy’s Raceways on the Road Course’s second show this year.  The events have quickly become a racers favorite and drew a nice crowd of 13 racers even though a make-up night had to be used this week.  Wenner won 3 segments to post a 12 piece of track win over one of the area’s best Road Racers our own Randy Haydt.  Haydt won 2 segments on the night.  Finishing third was Nick Wummer in one of his best ever runs here at the Kutztown Racetracks.  Wummer won 4 segments other than the gutters.  Fourth was Brian Sponagle.  Spoons was consistant all night long in his Cup car.  Rounding out the top five was Jim LeVan who won 3 segments in the middle lanes.

Jim LeVan concluded a good night on the Tub taking the win in the IROC event.  LeVan won 2 segments in another very tight field in the IROC Class.  The AutoWorld cars were used and thanks to Randy for tuning them.  Invader Sam Heller was second missing the win by just 3 pieces of track after winning a single segment.  Third spot went to John Kosmoski who won a segment on lane 3 and was on the lead lap every race.  Fourth was the Point Leader Randy Haydt who won 1 segment.  Rounding out the fast five was Mark Williams with 1 segment win.

Tub Tacks-  7 out of the 10 entries won segments in the IROC race, Larry Sanders just missed winning a segment on lane 3.  The IROC feature win was Jim’s second this season and 5th career win.  The NASCAR feature win for Tom Wenner made him the fifth different victor this season and the fourth race in a row with a new winner. He also became the 21st different NASCAR Feature winner in the history of Randy’s Raceway.  James Hammershock had a top ten with the Cup cars as he scored 3 lead lap races on the Tub.  Good to have Sam, Nick and John back with us after brief absences.
