Williams Wins Modified Opener

Mark Williams won the season opener for Modifieds at Randy’s Raceway to kick off the 2011 / 2012 season, our 11th consecutive.  Williams drove a fluorescent green modified and won in a real battle with Brett Gilmore.  Williams won 4 segments to Gilmore’s 5 segment wins to score his third straight Modified Feature win going back to last season.  Gilmore brought a replica of his 358 Modified bodied Tyco home runner-up.  Veteran Jim Levan was third on the night scoring 4 segment wins in his throw back coupe bodied car.  Scott Bender the racing photographer finished fourth winning the final 2 segment of the evening.  Sheldon Hiester rounded out the top five with a strong run.  Shane Hiester finished sixth followed by Billy Decker out of Nazareth, Eric Beard (2 segment wins). Bob Amore and Toby Reinhart rounded out the top 10.
MODIFIED MADNESS
15 racers on hand for the opener, Nick Wummer had a good night and although he missed the top ten he had some strong segments.  We want to thank Nick for his volunteer work with his local fire company.  Brett Gilmore turned 17 this weekend.  Scott Bender is looking for anybody who might have a copy of the rules for the 50/50 drawing.  I am not sure it would help though.  It also seems that the race boxes have become unclear since the duct tape is peeling up. This could become a big deal if Scott ever looks down.

BRETT GILMORE WINS AFX ATREAT SHOOTOUT
Brett Gilmore won the 2nd annual ATREAT shootout style race.  In a unique approach of calling out another driver and trying to be the last man standing the format was a bunch of fun. Gilmore won the AFX portion and Sheldon Hiester won the Magnatraction portion with Gilmore taking the overall win over Hiester.
