Randy Haydt Takes First Feature Win of the Year

On Tuesday night February 26 the Sportsman Division was back in action at Randy’s Raceway on the Short Track. This will be for the last time this season and for good as the track has been sold and will be leaving Randy’s basement at the end of the racing season.  There were 20 racers on hand and participated in the event.  Taking the win was Randy Haydt who won 3 segments in route to the victory for the first time this season in a Shane Hiester prepared car. Randy looked to be having fun and drove that way as he was smooth all night long and payed off with him getting a well deserved victory.  Second place went to Shane Hiester who won 4 segments and lost out on the victory to Randy by 5 track sections.  Third went to Fred McCullough who won 5 segments but got lapped on lane 1 and he only missed out on second by 1 track section.  Fourth went to Scott Bender with a good solid run to bring home a top 5 finish, and he won 1 segment on the night as well.  Fifth went to Sheldon Hiester who won 2 segments on the night and lost to Scott by only 6 track sections, so the racing amongst the top 5 were close between the racers.  The rest of the top 10 wound up like this: 6 – Jim Levan (3 wins), 7 – Corey Bailey (1 win), 8 – Bob Amore, 9 – Brian Sponagle, 10 – Mike Feltenberger.  It was nice to have the Barlet family Dennis, Denise, and Dakota on hand for another sportsman event as well as Tom Spatz who comes with them and is getting better as a new racer at Randy’s.  Good to see Jim Levan and Corey Bailey pick up some Sportsman victories throughout the evening as well.
