2012-2013 Sportsman Season Review

The 2012-2013 Sportsman division Championship went to Sheldon Hiester and Shane Hiester as co-champs.  Sheldon won 3 races throughout the 9-race season.  Shane won 2 races on the season.  Third went to Fred McCullough.  Fred won 2 races on the season.  Fourth went to Jim Levan.  Jim won 1 race on the season.  Rounding out the top 5 was Randy Haydt.  Randy won 1 feature during the season that was his only win all year in any division.  The rest of the top 10 were: 6 – Scott Bender, 7 – Mike Feltenberger, 8 – Corey Bailey, 9 – Billy decker, and 10 – Mark Williams.  The first 9 racers in points ran every race throughout the season.  Corey Bailey was the 2012-2013 Sportsman Rookie of the Year.  Mike “Bear” Feltenberger was given the Most Improved Driver award at the banquet for his improvement in the 3 divisions raced regularly at Randy’s Raceway.  26 different racers took part in Sportsman action throughout the season, which was a good turnout.  The racing was close as for most of the season it was a 3 car race for the point title between the Hiester brothers and Freddy Mac.  Fred McCullough fell just 16 points short of the title that really isn’t that much with the point system.  14 of the 26 racers earned a segment win throughout the season which is over half of the field that’s a pretty good percentage.  Thanks to everyone that supported the Sportsman division for the 2012-2013 season it was a fun year.  Sorry for the delay in the season recap article just outside racing, baseball, and work take up a lot of time.  I hope this is good enough for you Scott.  LOL
