Young third generation racer Brett Gilmore who has high goals for this new
season won the opener in a close race with Shane Hiester.
Gilmore won all 8 of his segments and only had 7 falloffs as well. Hiester who looked real
strong scored his best finish ever at the Berks raceplant. Shane won 5 of
his segments. Third spot went to veteran Sam Heller who has kept his string
of strongs runs going. Heller is coming off a very successfull summer tour.
Another veteran who had a strong showing was Billy Decker who came home
fourth picking up 3 segment wins. Rounding out the top 5 was the racing
photograher Scott Bender who won 1 segment on lane 8.
Newsworthy
The top three cars were torn down and all were legal. We had quite a few
new racers this week so that was good to see. Young Tony who has not had
his 6th birthday yet ran real good and had 4 out of 8 segments with no
falloffs. Cindy and Chuck also made their first starts. It was good to
have both Shane and Sheldon Hiester in the field on a regular show as well
as Ted and Lincoln Van Pelt. Ted found his way in for a top 10 finish.
