BRETT GILMORE FIVE PEAT

by Mark Williams

Brett Gilmore once again won the modified feature race at Randy’s Raceway.

It was the Fleetwood racers 5th in a row and 6th of the year.  Young Gilmore won all but 1 segment on the evening.  Not to be outdone however where a pair of cagey veterans Sam Heller and Billy Decker who wound up 2nd and 3rd.  Heller ran strong in his own wrenched #1 and took 5 impressive wins.  Decker who lost a lap when his car did not restart on lane five was also real strong again and recovered nicely for third taking 3 segment wins.  Fourth spot went to hard charging Jim Levan who was also real good down low and grabbed a season high 3 segment wins for him.  Rounding out the top five was steady running Shane Hiester, although not winning a segment he was right there in most of the heats.  Sixth through tenth were Mark Williams, Guy Intelisano, Alex Amore, Bob Amore and Rich Pigeon.

MODIFIED MADNESS

It was great to welcome back Frank Shillinger and Rich Pigeon after a long absence.  Pigeon looked good almost winning a segment in his familiar green machine and wound up tenth.  Schillinger also was getting it tuned up and came home 14th in a big field.  Billy Decker just keeps looking very strong in the modifieds and had another fine finish.  Mike Wentzel is back racing again and starting to get back in the grove.  Alex Amore looked real good in a brand new car that his Dad built for him this week.  Taylor’s Dad had a top ten finish.  Guy Intelisano is beginning to get around better every week at Randy’s, now if he can just find the cars after each segment.
