by Scott Bender
I R O C racing and the sprint car opener were on tap at Randy’s Raceway Tuesday night.
It was a 5 lap Magna-Traction event and Brett Gilmore making his 1st I R O C event his year, scored 2 segment wins on way to the win. As everybody seemed to struggle with lane 1, Brett turned in the best score helping his cause. Only 3 sections of track behind, Kenny Gilmore won 2 segments to finish second. Mark Williams had a steady run winning 1 segment to finish third. Randy Haydt scored enough for a fourth place finish. Jim Levan also turned in a good run to finish fifth.
KENNY GILMORE SCORES SPRINT WIN
Picking up where he left off last year, Kenny Gilmore turned in another solid run winning all 6 segments on way to the win. Making his Sprint car debut, Jim Levan looked real strong winning 1 segment to finish second. Scott Bender scored 1 segment win for a third place finish. Only 4 pieces of track behind was Mark Williams racing across the line for fourth. Bob Amore finished fifth.
WINGS and WRECKERS
The I R O C top 5 finishers were separated by only 30 sections of track. A competitive I R O C division as Brett’s win was the 4th different winner in 4 events. Thanks to Randy for preparing these 6 I R O C cars very equal. Hope to see Jim Levan be a regular in the Sprint class. Billy Decker had a host of problems on lane 3 costing him a shot at a top 5 finish.
DONT FORGET NEXT SPRINT RACE THURSDAY JANUARY 8.
