by Mark Williams

Brett Gilmore won all six lanes on the brand new Reading Fairgrounds
Mall Show race track on his way to yet another Randy’s Raceway Modified
feature event.

The win all but locked up the young Fleetwood racers first Slot car championship.  36 racers took part in the first competition on the historic site where the Reading Fairgrounds once held some of the best dirt track racing in the country.  Brett Gilmore is the son of Modified veteran Racer Kenny Gilmore and the Grandson of Charley Gilmore who won two Sportsman features back in the mid 70’s right here on the Mall grounds driving Jim Browns race car.  Both were in attendance to watch the event.  Second spot went to veteran HO racer Bill Brenner out of Manheim.  Brenner won 5 segments and was followed closely by Dave Richards from Lauerdale.  Richards won 4 segments in his return from a 2 year absense from competition.  Fourth went to defending Modified Points champion Mark Williams who won 2 segments and followed up a win on Sunday in the R M S series race held here at the Mall.  Rounding out the top 5 was Ryan Reitz a regular at Heister’s Speedway and R M S.  Reitz ran real well down low winning lanes 1-3.  The top ten was finished out by Jim Levan, Sam Heller, Rich Pigeon, Bob Amore and Rodney Reitz.
