Veteran slot car enthusiast Billy Decker won the Modified feature at Randy’s Raceway driving his #04 bodied car. Billy was strong all night, staying on the lead lap in all 8 lanes. He picked up segment wins on lanes 4 through 6 and with those 3 segments he has tied Bob Amore for 6th place all time in the Modified ranks. Decker’s last win at Randy’s Raceway in the Mods was December 30, 2008 and this was a very popular win, the third of his long career. Second spot went to Sheldon Hiester who won 4 segments giving him 81 career segment wins. Third on the night went to Oval track rookie Bryan Kisthart. Kisthart was real strong winning 4 segments. Fourth on the night went to the Coupe racer out of Reading Jim Levan. Levan won a single segment giving him 6 on the season. Rounding out the top five was veteran Shane Hiester who also won one segment.
NEWS AROUND THE PITS
With the win Billy Decker became the 4th different winner in the Modified division this season in 4 shows. Earlier in the evening old photos of Billy surfaced and you really got a feel for just how long he has been at this stuff. Actually he started racing before there was electricity. Thanks to Eric Beard for bringing the pictures, I did not know that he raced with Billy in a former life. Chad F made a rare appearance and really got around well winding up 6th at the end of the night. Corey Bailey also looked real strong picking up 3 segments and came home 7th in the main event. 18 racers on hand for the show and there were no lane infractions. Scott would have messed that up I am sure if he was in the field.
