Defending Champ Doubles Up

Tuesday night October 25, 2011 was the second race of the season for the Sportsman and IROC divisions at Randy’s Raceway in Kutztown.  There were 14 racers on hand.  Taking the win in the headliner was defending champion Shane Hiester.  Shane drove to the win on the Short track winning 4 segments on the night.  Second went to the always smooth running Fred McCullough.  Fred won 2 segments on the night.  Third went to Billy Decker.  Billy won 3 segments on the night coasting his way to a good run.  Fourth went to Mark Williams.  Mark won 3 segments on the night in a Hiester prepared Sportsman.  Rounding out the top 5 was Sheldon Hiester. Sheldon won 1 segment on the night, but lost the point lead to brother Shane.  The rest of the field were 6-Jim Levan (2 wins), 7-Randy Haydt (1 win), 8-Bob Amore, 9-Scott Bender, 10-Toby Reinhard, 11-Tony Zappacosta, 12-Brian Vanbuskirk, 13-Cory Reinhard, and 14-Adam Zappacosta.  The racing action was very close all night long.  The track was well prepared and worked well for the event.
In the night cap the IROC division was run with the AFX Magna-Traction cars prepared to perfection by Randy J.  There were 12 racers at this event.  Taking the win again was Defending champion Shane Hiester.  Shane won 4 segments on the night, and just may be becoming the new “Mr.  IROC”.  Second went to Randy Haydt.  Randy ran steady all night, but had to deal with the race winner all night long.  Third went to Scott Bender.  Scott won 2 segments, and proved why he is a former division champ.  Fourth went to Sheldon Hiester.  Sheldon won 1 segment on the night to back up his former title also.  Fifth went to Bob Amore.  Bob won 1 segment on the night.  The rest of the field goes like this: 6-Mark Williams (2 wins), 7-Billy Decker (1 win), 8-Toby Reinhard, 9-Jim Levan, 10-Fred McCullough (1 win), 11-Brian Vanbuskirk, and 12-Cory Reinhard.  The IROC racing all season so far has been what the class represents, and that is close racing.  The credit must be given to track owner Randy Haydt who has prepared the cars well and even all year long even though some people (Scott) never give him any credit.  Next week is Modifieds on the 8 Lane so come out for a good cheap night of fun.
