Gilmore Rolls to 4th Berks Series Win

The Berks County Oval Series rolled over to Bob Zelano’s track in Wyomissing on Saturday


and Kenny Gilmore turned in a strong performance on way to his 4th B. C. O. S. win of the year winning 7 segments. Gilmores win was about 2 laps over Rich Schmidt who recorded his best finish this year with a 2nd place run, winning 4 segments. A surprised Jim Levan also turned in his best finish this year with a solid third place run, scoring 1 segment win on lane 1. Bob Zelano turned in his 3rd top 5 finish of the year finishing fourth, winning 5 segments. Eric Beard continues to show improvement turned in a career best fifth place finish, scored 4 segment wins and just missed out by 2 pieces of track for the win in race 2.

Schmidt Scores First I R O C Win

The 15 lap I R O C race was run with very tough to handle Storm cars on a very quick track. Rich Schmidt pulled out his 1st I R O C win of the year winning 2 segments on way to his 4th career I R O C win. Rich’s win was only 4 pieces of track ahead of Kenny Gilmore who won 3 segments on way to a second place finish. Randy Haydt and Bill Brenner tied for third with Randy getting credit for third as a result of less come offs. Bill Brenner scored his 2nd fourth place I R O C finish if the year. Jim Levan capped off a good day winning 2 segments to finish fifth.

HOT LAPS:

The 1st non stop segment was run this year with Jim Levan, Rich Schmidt, John Kosmoski, and Bill Brenner. Eric Beard turned in his 1st segment win in race 1,then scored 3 more in race 2, on way to a good 5th place finish. Top 5 finishers all past tear down. Billy Decker ran the same amount of laps and segments in both races. Thanks to Bob and Dawn Zelano for their usual great food and hospitality that everyone enjoyed.
