Gilmore Scores 5th Berks Series Win

by Scott Bender

The Berks County Oval Series moved to the super fast 8 lane at Randy’s Raceway

on Saturday and Kenny Gilmore rolled to his 5th Berks Series win of the year. Kenny won 7 segments, and with the win just about locks up
his 2nd straight B. C. O. S. modified title. Billy Decker turned in a great effort, winning 2 segments on way to a good second place finish, it was Billy’s 3rd runner-up finish of the year. Jim Levan turned in his 2nd
straight 3rd place finish, winning 2 segments. Jim continues to run strong on the 8 lane. Eric Roberson made his Berks Series debut a good one winning 1 segment and finishing in a tie for 4th with Scott Bender who
scored his 3rd top 5 finish of the year. Eric gets credit for 4th because of a segment win.

6TH Bill Brenner — 7th Randy Haydt (2wins) — 8th BobAmore (1win) — 9th Shane Hiester — 10th Sheldon Hiester — 11th BrettGilmore — 12th BobZelano — 13th Rich Schmidt — 14th Eric Beard.

It was another close I R O C race as Kenny Gilmore completed the sweep with his 3rd I R O C win of the season. Gilmore won 1 segment on lane 2. It was just 2 pieces of track that kept Jim Levan from his 1st I R O C win, Jim won 2 segments to score his best I R O C finish. Randy Haydt won 1 segment to finish third, and keeps his hopes alive for the I R O C title going into the last race of the season. Bob Amore won 1 segment to score a fourth place
finish. Billy Decker won 2 segments (and now says he loves these Storm cars!) and turned in his 1st top 5 finish in the I R O C season.

The final race of the season comes on Saturday March 14 at R M S in Morgantown, and will be on the Fairgrounds Mall track 16′ size. Warm ups at 12 racing at 1:30. Good to see Eric Roberson in the field running a back
up car from Randy, and then finishing ahead of Randy!. Thanks again to Rich for
doing a good job preparing the I R O C cars.
