Gilmore Wins Three Straight

by Mark Williams

Brett Gilmore took a few weeks to get hot this season but the defending Modified Champion

is right back to his dominating self in race 5.  Gilmore drove the family prepared slot car to his third straight win taking 4 segments on the night.  A field of 20 racers was hand to do battle on hoagie night.  Chasing Gilmore across the line was Jim Levan who continues his hot start and is solidly in 2nd spot of the points.  Levan also won 4 segments in his familiar racer.  Third went to Mark Williams in his #7, winning 3 segments on the evening.  Fourth position was captured by Sheldon Hiester who won 2 segments and was real consistent only going down a lap once.  Rounding out the top five was Steven Kersher who won his first ever Modified segment and is looking like a real threat in his rookie season.  The rest of the top ten.  Bill Brenner, Shane Hiester, Scott Bender, Guy Intelisano and Bob Amore.

A thanks to everyone who participated with the hoagie sale especially Crystal who really went out of the way to pickup and deliver.  It was great to see Bill Brenner and Eric Beard in the field again this week and we would love for them to be regulars.  Eric has got building these Tycos figured out and his cars are among the fastest.  Also having Bill Brenner around with what he does for the young racers all the time is awesome.  Bill is a great influence and help in getting the young guys on their way in the hobby.  Randy’s computer program must be broken since I did not see his name in the top 10.  How about 20 racers this week, fantastic.  Glad to see the numbers climbing at all the local tracks as the thermometer drops.  Alex Amore made a late entry and with no practice ran pretty well just missing a top ten finish.  Toby and Allison’s son Cory raced with us for the first time and had some consistent runs.  Good to see Scott Bender back in the field after missing a few weeks.  The article is yours next week Scott.  Way to go Dylan on taking the largest 50/50 this year. The 8 lane is back in great shape and was super fast this week.  Thanks to the track crew for lending a hand even though I forgot to email a few guys.
