Haydt and Sponagle share Wins in Twin Bill

The Double show was back on the snow date of Thursday at Randy’s Raceway on the Tricky Tri-Oval.  Veteran racer and Track Founder Randy Haydt found Victory lane for the first time this season in the NASCAR division.  Haydt dodged some early wrecks and went on to score 3 segment wins for a narrow victory over Brian Sponagle.  Spoons also won 3 segments in another good run for the racing Teacher on the Tri-Oval.  Jim LeVan won 4 segments to come home a strong third followed by another racing veteran Billy Decker.  It was Decker’s best finish in the Cup class this year as well.  Cory Reinhard brought the first of three TCS racers home in fifth winner of 3 segments.  Tom Wenner was sixth with a single segment win followed by Mike Fitzgerald and Nick Wummer.  Ninth went to Toby Reinhard with a segment win followed by Savvy Cunnuis rounding out the top ten.

The IROC portion of the show saw Mr. IROC Brian Spoons Sponagle get back in the winners circle after winning 2 segments. NewComer Mike Mackaravitz was second in a real strong effort driving the Magna Tractions and picking up a segment win.  Points leader Randy Haydt wound up a steady third with 3 segment wins followed by Mark Williams who won 2 segments,  Billy Decker completed his top five sweep finishing fifth with a segment win and earning his second top five of the night.  Brian VanBuskirk raced home in 6th spot with a segment win followed by Cory Reinhard and Nick Wummer who also both won a single segment.  Jim LeVan was ninth with 1 segment win and Larry Sanders rounded out the top ten with a nice run.

Double the Fun-  A great night of racing was had on the Tri-Oval.  It seemed everybody had a great time which is what the tracks are here for and open each and every week for.  Almost too much laughing though as the looks from the scorers table were getting bad.  The racers really matter at Randy’s and it is evident in many things.  16 racers for Cup and then 13 stayed for IROC.  New Comer Mike Mackaravitz won his first ever segment in Cup and then followed that up with an amazing runner-up in the IROC Main event and won a segment in that class as well.  Mike’s son James Hamershock also had a great run in Cup finishing 12th in a very tough field.  It was good having Nick Wummer back in the field this week and he had strong runs in both classes finishing 8th in each feature.  Larry Sanders had a nice finish in IROC with a top ten.  How about our Racing Tech inspector won scored season best finishes in both Cup and IROC.
