Tuesday September 25th was the second races of the season for the Sportsman Class and the NASCAR Class at Randy’s Raceway on the “Tricky” Tri-Oval. The night started of with the Sportsman race running first on the card. A strong field of 17 racers took part in the event, with the victory going to Jim Levan in his 1st start of the season in the Sportsman class. Jim won 5 of his 6 segments enroute to his victory. Second went to Sheldon Hiester who lost by only 1 track section, winning 4 segments on the night. Third went to Shane Hiester who ran well all night winning 2 segments on the night in a strong run. Fourth went to Fred McCullough who ran on the lead lap in every segment and he won 3 segments on the night. Rounding out the Top 5 was Scott Bender who also did not get lapped all night long in a segment and also won 1 segment on the night. The rest of the Top 10 finished out like this: 6-Bryan Kisthart (2 segment wins), 7-Corey Bailey, 8-Mike Feltenberger “Bear” (1 segement win), 9-Randy Haydt, 10-Toby Reinhard. There was a lot of good racing all night long on the tricky track and everyone seems to be getting more comfortable with the Tri-Oval since we are racing on it more often this year.
Up next on the evening was the NASCAR race and this race had 15 drivers entered into competition for the event. With the Sportsman race already in the books for the night the Cup racing was even more fierce and competitive because everyone’s comfort level was up for driving on the track. Taking the victory in the NASCAR portion of the double header was Shane Hiester who won 5 of his 6 segments on the night edging out his twin brother Sheldon Hiester who finished second in the event. Sheldon won 5 segments as well on the night. Third place went to the winner of the 1st event of the night Jim Levan, who won 1 segment on the night. Fourth place went to Bryan Kistahrt who is in his 1st full season of competition at the Kutztown raceways running magnet cars, and Bryan will be a force to be wrecking with before the season is over. Rounding out the Top 5 was Mike Feltenberger “Bear”, who won 3 segments on the night on his way to his Top 5 finish. The rest of the Top 10 went like this: 6-Randy Haydt (3 segment wins), 7-Scott Bender, 8-Corey Bailey, 9-Billy Decker, and 10-Cory Reinhard. The racing all night long was fast and good and fun as usual.
Scott seemed to have no problems with the boundaries upstairs, wonder if that is because Mark was out of the country for the night, LOL. We are back in action at Randy’s on Tuesday October 2 on the 8 Lane Oval for the Modified Division. See you then.
