Veteran Slot Car Racer Jim Levan won his first Modified Feature of the season at Randy’s Raceway on Tuesday night on the Short Track six lane. Levan was impressive winning all segments except one on lane 2. Brett the Jet Gilmore won 5 segments and finished just 1 piece of track behind Levan’s #1 mod. Gilmore drove his familiar #7 and held onto a tie for the point lead. Mark Williams finished a close third winning two segments and just edging out the Easton Assassin Billy Decker by 3 pieces of track. Decker won 2 segments and was real fast all night. Rounding out the top five was Shane Hiester winning 3 segments. Sixth through tenth were Sheldon Hiester (1), Tony Z (1), Scott Bender, Eric Beard and Toby Reinhard.
Modified Musings
Billy Decker turned car builder. Not only did he run super on the 6 lane and wind up 4th he fielded 2 other cars that were really fast. Matt ran real good and finished 13th but how about Tony Z with his best ever finish in Modified, coming home 7th and winning a segment his first on lane 6. Tony even beat Modified ace Brett Gilmore in that one. Scott Bender seems to get all fouled up with the white and pink floor lines on the floor at the short track. Why is he the only one? Randy plans to race next week so if you were thinking about wearing safety glasses it would be a good week. His cars don’t handle at all. Thanks again to Monk for handling the Modified flagging again this year and Jody has volunteered to keep score. Larry Sanders stopped by and raced with us again, nice to have him. Bill Brenner was in the field and had a tough night but always nice to have the Manhiem veteran in the field.
