Former modified champion Kenny Gilmore made a rare start and sweep the modified show on the super competitive Tri-oval to take a modified feature win for the first time in a few years. Gilmore beat a tough field of 20 racers on hand at Randy’s Raceway. Mark Williams wound up second and extended his point lead. Williams won 5 segments with his only 19 coming while Gilmore was on the track. Third spot was veteran Jim Levan who won 4 segments in his fast #1. Fourth spot was Sheldon Hiester who notched 3 segment wins. Rounding out the top five was Scott Bender out of Reading. Bender won 2 segments and had strong runs all night, staying on the lead lap in all but 1 race. Sixth through tenth were Shane Hiester (1), Bob Amore, Billy Decker, Kevin S, and Eric Beard (1).
Roundup
Scott Bender seemed hooked up in his fast Bailey 81 all night. Dale Stengle made a late showing but got on the track in time to finish a nice 11th. Brian V had some tough runs on lanes 1 and 2 but improved as he moved out lanes. Eric Beard had a great run winning a segment and making the top ten on the tri-oval. I knew he could turn it around on the tricky track. Brett Gilmore also made a start but had handling problems on lane 2. Cory Reinhard had some real good runs and consistent finishes winding up 14th on the evening. No issues with Randy or the computer this week to report.
