Tuesday night January 27 was the 6th Race of the season for the Sportsman Division at Randy’s Raceway. Their were 14 drivers in attendance for the vent, and taking the victory was Mark Williams who won all 6 segments en-route to his 5th win in the division on the season. Second place went to Shane Hiester who won 3 segments on the evening who ran well all night long. Third went to Sheldon HIester who didn’t win a segment all night long, but still was strong and consistent all night long. Fourth went to Bryan Kisthart who won 2 segments on the night turning in his 3 Top 5 of the season in the Sportsman division. Rounding out the top 5 in fifth was Mike Fitzgerald who won 1 segment on the evening. The rest of the Top 10 ended up like this: 6-Brian Sponagle, 7-Randy Haydt (1 win), 8-Mike Feltenberger (1 win), 9-Scott Bender, and 10-Cory Reinhard. The racing was good all night long, but the track seemed to be a little trickier then normal as the fall offs for some people seemed to be higher then normal for those people, but even with people having more fall offs they still turned in good finishes.
This was Mark’s 5th straight win in the division after losing the opener, but has not been beat since as he got his Gilmore prepared Sportsman car running strong and well right now. Good to see Mike Feltenberger pick up a segment victory on Lane 2 after struggling on lane 1 the race before and posting only 15 laps on Lane 1 and bouncing back with the 20 lap victory on Lane 2. That gave him some strong confidence for his racing the rest of the evening. Toby Reinhard had a tough night as he struggled all night long and came home with a 14th place finish, but we know Toby usually has a good car and will bounce back in the next couple of weeks and be a strong contender again. The next Race at Randy’s Raceway will be this Tuesday February 3 for the Modified Division with Warm-ups @ 6PM and the 1st Race @ 7PM. I don’t recall any boundary issues this week as Scott behaved pretty well all night even though Randy raced next to him all night long. So this is about all I have to say for now, so until next time be safe and keep having fun slot car racing.
