by scott bender

The 2nd annual Tri-Track Challenge held at Randy’s Raceway turned out
to be alot of  close racing and a strong field of 24 racers.

In the opener running of Life Likes on the Tri-Oval Billy Decker scored 4 segment wins on the outside lanes to capture his 1st career I R O C win. Jim Levan turned in a great effort with 3 segment wins only 11 pieces of track behind Billy. Sam Heller recorded 4 segment wins to come home third. Scott Bender won 2 segments to finish fourth, Rich Schmidt won 2 segments to finish out the top 5.

RACE 2: Moving the action to Monks "Racerink" running Storm cars, Sam Heller turned in a fine run capturing the win, with 4 segment wins. Sheldon Heister & Randy Haydt tied for second, narrowly missing a win by 4 pieces of track. Newcomer Ryan Reitz won 2 segments on way to an impressive fourth place finish. Shane Heister won 2 segments to finish fifth.

RACE3: Running Pan Chassis cars on the 8-Lane Oval Sam Heller again showed he was the one to beat. Sam only  won 1 segment but was steady all day long on way to a well deserved win. Sam claimed the new title as "Mr. I R O C" !. Jim Levan rebounded from a bad run in race 2 to turn in another 2nd place finish winning 2 segments. Bob Amore won 2 segments to finish third. Sheldon Heister won 2 segments and finish fourth just 3 pieces of track ahead of Shane Heister who scored his second top 5 finish.

PIT STOPS: It was good to see a solid field of 24 racers, and especially good to see many competitors from all the local tracks making this event. Including  Willy & Harvey Goodwin making the trip from New Jersey. Thanks to Randy, Rich, and Monk for doing a good job preparing the I RO C cars. Bob Amore did another fine job donating bodies to everyone who entered. Thanks to Randy for everything he supplied for the entire day it was greatly appreciated.
