Williams Takes Mod Main after Tiebreaker

by Mark Williams

Mark Williams scored his first Modified feature of the 2009-2010 season

at Randy’s Raceway on Tuesday night.  Williams won all 8 lanes as did Troy Bowers but he had 0 falloffs to Bowers 3.  The second tiebreaker was used and Williams earned the win.  Third spot went to consistent Shane Hiester who won 2 segments on the night in his white #2 Modified.  Fourth spot went to current runner-up point’s man Jim Levan winner of 1 segment followed by Bill Brenner in the Eric Beard Modified.  The remaining top 10 were Scott Bender, Sheldon Hiester, Sam Heller, Billy Decker and Eric Beard.

Notes and Amusement

OK allot to cover this week.  First it was great to see Sam and Bruce Heller make a holiday spot and race with us this week.  Sam grabbed a fine 8th place finish in a strong field of 19 racers.  Congratulations to Troy Bowers who had a real strong run in a Kenny Gilmore machine.  Also it was good to see Eric Beard turn in a top 10 finish and he came within 16 pieces of getting his first segment win this year.  Steven Kercher continues his strong run as the top rookie this year and finished 11th this week.  Bob and Alex Amore both had tough nights and came home 12th and 15th respectively.  Also good to have John Kosmoski back with us racing and now all we need is Guy to show up.  Did anybody notice the new additions to the tub track?  How about that new cup holder that Randy had the Carpenters install.  Now the musical group Scott.  Billy Decker continues to get his stuff dialed in and finished 9th this week but he is turning faster and faster laps each week.  I thank Monk for wrenching my ride for the night that I wrecked in practice.  Don’t forget to sell, sell sell hoagies or Randy won’t forgive us.  Brett Gilmore was out of town and missed his first modified race of the season.  No worries as he is still well ahead in the season standings.  Speaking to Brian Vanbuskirk last week he will be missing some time now that his Snowboarding class that he instructs is in session.  He assured us that he’d be back at Randy’s Raceway as soon as his schedule allows.

We will hold a short 15-minute meeting prior to the January 12 modified show to discuss the mall show.  Bring you ideas and suggestions please.

Thanks to our holiday event sponsors Ernie Saxton, Scott Bender, Randy Haydt and our mystery sponsor who paid the entry fee for all.
