Mark Williams won his first Cup feature of this season taking the 15 lappers on the Tri-Oval. 11 racers were on hand to test the tough Tri-Oval once again and many tight races were presented on the track with a third turn. Williams won 4 segments on his way to a narrow victory over Sheldon Hiester (4 seg.) by 7 pieces of track. Third went to veteran Jim Levan in his familiar orange Cup car. Levan had 2 segment wins. Fourth went to current point leader Shane Hiester who had consistent runs on all 6 lanes. Rounding out the top 5 was Billy Decker out of Nazareth PA winner of 2 segments.
As the action moved downstairs for the nightcap the mighty Sprint cars turned up the heat and fast laps really began. 9 racers entered the Sprint show and Williams made it a clean sweep by taking the feature also his first win this season in this division. Williams won 4 segments but this time his margin of error was only 2 pieces of track over Jim Levan who also won 4 segments. Third spot was Shane Hiester who had all 14’s with his lowest score coming on lane 2 a 14.10. Fourth were Sheldon Hiester (1 seg.) and Randy Haydt (1 seg.)
This and That
We made it through the whole evening with no floor violations and yellow flags. Thanks for the observation Toby, that Scott’s absence may have had something to do with that fact. Field was down a bit due to the holiday. Nice job to all the guys who took the night off to be home with their wives. Good to have Kevin S racing with us again and he looked real strong in a Hiester backup Sprinter. Randy J had handling issues all night and was talking about fixing the computer again. Bill Brenner had a runner-up last week in the Modified feature with a ride in the Beard 18.
