The Double show was back on the snow date of Thursday at Randy’s Raceway on the Tricky Tri-Oval. Veteran racer and Track Founder Randy Haydt found Victory lane for the first time this season in the NASCAR division. Haydt dodged some early wrecks and went on to score 3 segment wins for a narrow victory over Brian Sponagle. Spoons also won 3 segments in another good run for the racing Teacher on the Tri-Oval. Jim LeVan won 4 segments to come home a strong third followed by another racing veteran Billy Decker. It was Decker’s best finish in the Cup class this year as well. Williams, Bender tie for Modified Win
Modified racing was back on the Tri-Oval Tuesday night and Point Leader Mark Williams and Scott Bender tied for the win. Mark gets credit for the victory because of his 5 segment wins. It was Mark’s 8th win of the season. Scott scored 3 segment wins including wins on lanes 1&2. Cory Reinhard Stays perfect In Sprint
Cory Reinhard who is racing hard as he tries to win his first Championship at Randy’s Raceway in the Sprint Car Division this season. Reinhard stayed a perfect 3 for 3 in this years 6 race series after missing the previous show. So he still leads the chase for the crown after 2/3 of the season races are in the books. Two races remain before a Sprint Champion will be crowned. Reinhard won 4 segments in a dominating win by almost a full lap over runner-up Randy Haydt who holds onto 3rd in the points. Haydt won 4 segments in an extremely fast show. Third went to Mark Williams who won the last race, he also had 4 segment wins. Fourth spot was earned by Toby Reinhard with a single segment win placing the second TCS car in the top five. Fifth went to Mike Fitzgerald who continues to impress on the 8 lane Speedway. Fitzy won 2 segments.
Sprint Sides- Seemed like a wingless night was in the works as multiple wings came apart during the night. Lucky for us Randy stayed downstairs and got to relive last years track repair job by me. Thanks Jody for bringing that up again. Once again James shows continued improvement with many consistent runs. Tony Zappacosta had a strong car and nearly pulled out a couple of segment wins on his way to a fine sixth place showing in the feature. 18 racers were on hand as Sprints continues to be a popular event.
Mark Williams Scores 7TH Mod Win
Modified point leader Mark Williams scored 7 segment wins on way to his 7th Modified victory of the season. Continuing a strong season, Cory Reinhard scored 4 segment wins on the middle lanes to finish 2nd. Randy Haydt collected 2 segment wins on his way to a strong 3rd place finish. That was Randy’s 7th top 5 run of the year. Less than 1 lap behind, Jim Levan scored 1 segment win for a good 4th place finish. Just 10 pieces of track behind, Brian Sponagle scored his 2nd top 5 finish of the year to close out the first 5.

HOT LAPS: Season best finish for Ed K. just missing out on a top 5 finishing 6th. Also Billy D getting his 1st segment win on lane 1 finishing 10th. We had 3 segment winners on lane 1, Savvy, Mark W, and Billy D. Youngster James Hamershock had a good night with no crash outs while finishing 15th. Next Week Sprint cars are back in action.
Williams Doubles Up in NASCAR Event
Mark Williams won both halves of the Twin 10 event this week on a Thursday night show. The NASCAR Point leader won 11 segments on the evening sweeping the first event and ended up the overall winner. In the first show with a good field of 17 racers in attendance Cory Reinhard scored 3 segment wins to come home runner-up. Third spot went to Randy Haydt also winner of 3 segments. Jim LeVan won 2 segments to finish fourth followed by Savvy Cunnius who won 1 segment in her fast pink car to finish out the top five. A redraw for the second show saw Williams win 5 segments and take the win over Jim LeVan who once again won 2 segments followed by Cory Reinhard and Randy Haydt who won 2 segments each. Tom Wenner grabbed fifth in the night cap winning one segment.
NASCAR News- Young James Hamershock had some nice runs on the Tri-oval improving on each race segment. It’s great having James and his Dad Mike racing with us as well as Kris aka MollyKat. Team TCS racing had a great night with 5 top ten finishes lead the way by Cory who had a second and third with 5 segment wins in total. Jim LeVan holds onto a strong position in the season points standing in second spot with another Road race still looming. Hiram Durant had some strong runs in the Haydt backup machine finishing 8th and 9th on the evening. It was great to see Larry Sanders family enjoying the event over the Holiday season.
The BLMRS has quickly reached it’s midseason here is a quick Recap of the 1st half
BIG BLOCK: In the Series opener Tim “Little T” Bowers scored the win, it was his 3rd career Big Block win. Tim’s win was a little more than 1 lap over runner-up Mark Williams, Sheldon Hiester was 3rd, Shane Hiester was 4th, followed by John Kosmoski in 5th. Race 2 at Tom Wenner’s Speedway saw Mark Williams grab the checkered flag, it was his 5th career B. Block win. New comer this year to the Series Fred McCullough was a strong 2nd place, followed by Randy Haydt in 3rd, Tim”Little T “Bowers crossed the line 4th, and Sheldon Hiester was 5th. On to the Tri-Oval for race 3 and Mark Williams made it 2 in a row, Randy Haydt was a close 2nd, good run for Fred McCullough finishing 3rd, Shane Hiester was 4th, Scott Bender 5th.
POINTS: With his back to back wins Mark Williams holds a 9 point lead over “Little T”, Randy Haydt,and Fred McCullough who are all tied for 2nd.
SMALL BLOCK: In the Small Block Series Opener Cory Reinhard nearly turned in a sweep on way to the win it was his 2nd career Small Block win. Randy Haydt was 2nd, John Kosmoski was 3rd, Sheldon Hiester was 4th and Toby Reinhard was 5th. Race 2 at Tom Wenner’s Randy Haydt scored his 3rd career Small Block win. Sheldon Hiester was 2nd, Mark Williams was 3rd, Shane Hiester was 4th, and Fred McCullough was 5th. On the Tri-Oval for race 3 Mark Williams and Sam Heller tied for the win, Series rules gives Mark credit for the win because of less fall offs as the tie-breaker. Fred McCullough was 3rd, Shane Hiester was 4th,Tim”Little T” Bowers was 5th.
POINTS: A good battle is going on for the top spot as Randy Haydt is holding on to a 3 point lead over Mark Williams. The 2nd half of the season gets back into action on Saturday January 19th at Woodland Raceway in Oley,Pa. Warm ups at 11:30 with racing starting at 1.
Two Drivers Having a Great Season
With our racing season at about the mid-way point two drivers that are having good seasons are in this weeks spotlight. Scott Bender has himself a good season going with a feature win on opening day in the Modifieds and is currently 4th in points with 4 segment wins. A part time runner this year in Nascar has him 17th in points as he looks for that first career Nascar Feature win. He is also 6th in the Sprint Car chase with 3 top five finishes and 1 segment win so far. He is a former Sprint Point Champion. [Read more…]
Mark Williams Wins Holiday Modified Event
It was the annual Holiday / Scott Bender Photo Night event at Randy’s Raceway. A record turnout of 25 racers were on hand. Mark Williams scored 6 segment wins on way to his 6th Modified win of the season. Just 1 lap behind Jim Levan turned in a strong 2nd place finish scoring 4 segment wins on way to his best Modified run of the year. Cory Reinhard started off the night scoring 6 straight segment wins to come home with a solid 3rd place finish. Trailing Cory by 30 pieces of track, Scott Bender scored 2 segment wins finishing 4th. Making his 2nd Modified start of the year Mike Fitzgerald had a consistent run of 19’s for a good 5th place effort. Just 9 pieces of track behind, Randy Haydt scored 4 segment wins including a win on lane 8 to finish 6th. Toby Reinhard was 7th, Tom Wenner scored 2 segment wins on the middle lanes and was 8th, Mike Feltenberger was 9th,closing out the Top 10 Ed Kenderdine scored a segment win to finish 10th.

SPANKY SAYS: Good having Susquehanna Late Model Champion Brian Shuey making his 1st start hope to see him back again. A record field of 25 racers were in the pit area. Want to Thank everyone who helped keep the night moving getting everyone out at a decent time. No problems on pit road as Jim Levan kept the big field under control.
Williams / Seigfried 1 / 2 in Sprint Feature
Mark Williams won his first Sprint feature this season on the monster oval winning 5 segments. Making his return after an extended absence was Laudan Seigfried who won 4 segments and was fast all night garnering a second place finish. Third spot went to Randy Haydt in his new #21 sprinter, he won 3 segments followed by Jim LeVan who won a segment on lane 4 and rounding out the top five was Scott Bender a former Champion. FINISH- Williams, Seigfried, Haydt, LeVan, Bender, Decker, Wenner, VanBuskirk, Fitzgerald, Kosmoski, A.Zappacosta, Kenderdine, Sanders, Kris K, T.Zappacosta.
Sprint storyline- 16 racers checked in for the third race of the season. Two time winner Cory Reinhard was not in the field this week. Adam Zappacosta had a fast car and was challenging for the lead in a couple of races. Tom Wenner had a rocket in the lower lanes but had some struggles in 6 through 8. Good to see Kris K back racing with us again.
Mark Williams Wins Big Block Feature / Williams and Sam Heller tie in Small Blocks
The BLMRS ran it’s 3rd race of the season on Saturday at Randy’s Raceway. The Tri-Oval was the venue and Mark Williams rolled to his 2nd straight BBlock win and 6th career win. Mark scored 5 segment wins holding off runner up Randy Haydt by 18 pieces of track. Haydt collected 2 segment wins on the day. Just 9 pieces of track behind Fred McCullouch scored 4 segment wins on the middle lanes to come home with a 3rd place finish. Shane Hiester scored 1 segment win on way to a 4th place effort. Just 2 pieces of track behind Scott Bender who had a steady run of 19’s to close out the top 5. Sam Heller scored 1 segment win finishing 6th. Ed Kenderdine scored 2 segment wins to finish 7th. Sheldon Hiester finished 8th followed by Tim”Little T” Bowers and John Kosmoski rounded out the Top10.
