Mark Williams Wins on the Tri-Oval

Modified racing returned to the Tri-Oval for the 1st time this year and Mark Williams just missed a ‘Sweep’ by 1 piece of track to score his 2nd Modified win of the season. Less than 1 lap behind Cory Reinhard scored 4 segment wins on the middle lanes for a good 2nd place run. Adam Zappacosta scored 1 segment win for a career best 3rd place run. Scott Bender scored 1 segment win to come home with a 4th place finish. Jim Levan scored 1 segment win on lane 6 to close out the Top 5. A tie for 6th between Brian Sponagle and Randy Haydt each won 1 segment with tie Breaker going to “Spoons” with 1 less come off. Lauden Seigfried was 8th.Tom Wenner won 2 segments but a bad run on lane 1 cost him, but still scored a good 9th place finish. “Savvy” was 10.

TRI-OVAL TALK:

Close racing  as Top 5 were separated by less than 3 laps. Great run by Adam Z with a strong 3rd place run. Good field as 17 racers were in the pit area. Racing goes back to the Tri-Oval next week as NASCAR and IROC racing returns.

Reinhard’s Sweep Twin Bill at Randy’s Raceway

Cory Reinhard won the Cup event and his Dad Toby won the IROC event as the action moved over to the Tricky Tri-Oval.  A field of 18 racers was on hand for the double show and a very orderly event was spun off in a short time. For Cory Reinhard this was his third feature win overall this season already, and his first in the NASCAR class.  It was his second career win in NASCAR after winning 4 segments.  The young Boyertown racer was very impressive winning tough segments over veteran Jim LeVan in the middle lanes.  Second spot went to Mark Williams who was the Opening Night winner.  Williams took 4 segment wins as well in his #50 racer.  Third spot went to Jim LeVan who won three segments in his Orange #40.  Fourth was Randy Haydt (AKA Mr NASCAR) who won a single segment on lane 5.  Rounding out the top five was Brian Sponagle who won 4 segments on the evening.  [Read more…]

Mark Williams “ SWEEPS “ to First Modified Win

It was race 2 of the Modified season and Mark Williams rebounded from a bad Opening Day on way to a convincing “sweep” to score his 1st Modified win. Last weeks Sprint car winner Cory Reinhard turned in a solid 2nd place run, winning 4 segments. Randy Haydt had a steady night scoring 1 segment win to finish 3rd. Less than 1 lap behind Tom Wenner continued his strong early season, winning 2 segments to finish 4th. Opening day winner Scott Bender finished 5th.

With a strong field of 19 racers want to thank everyone for keeping the night moving with the final race ending before 9pm. Good having Mike “ Bear “ Feltenberger and Tim ” Little T ” Bowers back in the field making their 1st start of the year. Sprint Opens Season with Extra Distance Event, Cory Reinhard is the Winner

The third regular season event of this year was spun off as the Sprints ran the opener 25 lap event.  Cory Reinhard scored a very impressive win in his team TCS racer with a nearly perfect score of 199.31.  Winning 6 segments and shaking off a lane 3 draw the Boyertown Grad won the Opener making him the third different winner in three Tuesday night races.  Cory also had a very low count of 5 falloffs in almost 200 laps.  Veteran Mark Williams was second winner of 4 segments on the evening.  Third spot went to Randy Haydt who won 1 segment.  Coming home fourth was Tom Wenner who has a pair of top tens already this young season.  The Blandon racer has certainly upped his game.  Tom won 4 segments.  Rounding out the top five was former Sprint Champ Scott Bender.

 

Sprint Saga-  Savvy Cunnius had some great runs in her pink Sprinter  scoring 2 segment wins.  17 racers in the field this week including Brian Vanbuskirk who made his first start of the season.

Scott Bender Wins Modified Opener

It was the season opener for the Modifieds Tuesday night at Randy’s Raceway and Scott Bender scored 1 segment win and had all lead lap finishes to post a close win. TCS Racing showed it will be a force all season as Savannah Cunnius scored 3 segment wins turning in a career best 2nd place finish. Randy Haydt  had a fast “Chucky” machine as he scored 3 segment wins finishing 3rd. A “TORRID” battle for the 4th spot, a 3 way tie including Cory Reinhard, Toby Reinhard and Brian “ Spoons “ Sponagle. Cory getting credit for the 4th spot with 5 segment wins. Toby and Spoons tied with one segment win each so the tie breaker then goes to fall offs. Toby takes 5th with 9 fall offs and “Spoons ” 6th with 12 fall offs. Ed Kenderdine was 7th with 1 segment win. John Kosmoski 8th with 1 win, 9th Billy Decker and 10th Jim Levan with 1 win.

HOT LAPS:

Have to check the record books to see if we have ever had a 3 way tie ? 17 racers were in the pit area. Great start of the Modified season for TCS racing with 3 Top 5’s and 9 segment wins. Tough night for Mark Williams who had pinion and rear gear issues all night. Sprint Car Opener next week.

Toby Reinhard Race Well Attended

Nick Wummer with the help of his aunt Cathy put together a nice event to help Toby along with his recovery after some surgery last month.  Over 20 people attended the days activities which included a double show of Big and Small Block Modifieds.  Also a huge thank you to all the people who donated prizes toward the auction, this was really very nice of them.  In a fitting way Toby’s son Cory won the Big Block feature with almost a perfect score.  Followed by Little T, Dan Wirful, Savvy Cunnius and Billy Decker.  The Small Block portion of the show went to Little T as 16 racers entered the event.  Mark Williams was second followed by Randy Haydt, Cory Reinhard and Toby Reinhard coming home 5th.  Great Event everyone and thanks to Randy’s Raceway for once again hosting a great day.

Williams Takes Opener at Randy’s Raceway

Mark Williams won the NASCAR feature at Randy’s Raceway to Open the 19th consecutive season of racing at the Berks Speedway.  A field of 18 racers were on hand to kick off the season and little rust was shown.  Many cars were extremely fast on the smooth 8 lane track.  Williams won 5 segments on route to a one lap victory over last years Point Champ Randy Haydt.  Haydt won 4 segments in his Skoal machine.  Third spot went to a very consistent Jim LeVan in his familiar orange Cup car.  [Read more…]

TEAM REINHARD GETTING READY FOR RANDY’S RACEWAY SEASON

Team Reinhard is looking forward to another year of improvement at the Berks County Racing Center known as Randy’s Raceway.  The group of 5 tracks at 2 sites makes this a very tough venue but team Reinhard has improved year over year.  The Team which consists of Cory Reinhard, Savvy Cunnuis and veteran car builder Toby Reinhard should be fast right out of the gate this year.  Look for Cory to contend for a Modified Point Title one of these years very soon and Savvy will be in victory lane no doubt in the near future.  Also as we publish this story a speedy recovery to Toby who is hopefully feeling better each day.

2018/2019 Modified Season Review

This past season saw many great races on the Tri-Oval and 8 lane tracks.  6 drivers won feature races and 20 won segments.  8 drivers averaged under 10 falloffs per week which may be a record.  31 racers took a green flag this past season with 8 of them making all 14 shows.

Mark Williams walked off with the point title his 5th in a row after winning 7 features including the last 4 in a row.  Randy Haydt had one of his best years in the Modified class finishing second in the season long championship.  Haydt won 3 features including the opener and 26 segments along the way to his 1149 point season.  Third spot with a feature win and 24 segment wins went to young charger Cory Reinhard.  Reinhard also took home the Most Improved driver award this season.  Steady Veteran Scott Bender was fourth in points winning a feature along with 11 segment wins.  Jim LeVan had a good season to wind up fifth winning his feature on December 5th and grabbing 27 segment wins along the way.  Brian SPOONS Sponagle the racing Teacher won 18 segments this year and had a pair of runner=ups in features.  Toby Reinhard wound up 7th this year and won 14 segments, 8th went to Rookie Racer Laudan Seigfried who won 13 segments and made every race except the opener.  Siegfried’s best finish came on January 9th a fourth place run.  Our Racing Parts Manager Billy Decker was 9th on the season.  The Veteran won 5 segments and scored a third on February 20th.  Rounding out the Top ten was Savvy Cunnuis who won an impressive 11 segments and scored two sixth place feature finishes this year.

IROC SERIES RETURNS TO RANDY’S RACEWAY

The very popular IROC racing series returns this season with a full schedule of events.  The opener kicks off on the Tri-Oval on October 2 nd.  This series points championship will be defended by Brian Sponagle who won the title last year in an abbreviated season.  The series which features cars supplied by the track and others is a bring your own controller and have at it.  This really equals the field and makes for very competitive races.  Watch for upcoming news and stories for IROC 2018/2019.
