Mark Williams Scores 6th Modified Win

Point leader Mark Williams added to his lead Tuesday night as racing was back on the Tri-Oval.  Williams scored 5 segment wins to earn the victory and his 3rd in a row. A solid run by Randy Haydt in his Freddy Adam Coupe as he rolled to 1 segment win on lane 5 for the Runner Up finish. Good Tri-Oval run by Toby Reinhard as he scored 2 segment wins to finish 3rd. Scott Bender scored a nice 4th place finish, it was his 2nd straight Modified race on the Tri-Oval with no fall off’s. Billy Decker recovered from a slow start on the front lanes and came back to score 2 segment wins to close out the Top 5.

6th Jim LeVan ( 1 win ), 7th Brian Sponagle, 8th Tony Zappacosta ( 1 win ), 9th Mike Mackaravitz, 10th Cory Reinhard, 11th Brian Vanbuskirk 12th James Hammershock. Next Week the Sprint cars return for their 4th race of the season.

MarkWilliams sweeps both ends of the New Years Holiday Thursday Night Thunder Tri-Oval Twin 10 Special

NASCAR Champion Mark Williams started off 2020 with a bang, Sweeping both ends of the NASCAR Twin 10 New Years Holiday Special Event at Randy’s Raceway. Mark won 4 segments in the 1st race on the way to victory lane. In the 2nd Twin 10, Mark won 5 segments to secure the victory. Jim LeVan who is always very strong on the Tri-Oval track scored 2 Runner-up finishes on Thursday night. Jim scored 2 segments wins in both races while powering to 2 podium runs on the night. Cory Reinhard tied Randy J. for 3rd place in race 1, But won out over Randy based on race wins. Cory won 3 segments while Randy only had 2. Randy finished 4th with a strong run using the reliable Danica ride. Brian Sponagle capped the Top 5 of drivers in race 1, Scoring 3 segment wins. [Read more…]

Randy’s Raceway Mid Season Recap

With the season quickly at its Halfway point here is a brief review of what has happened this year in each division.

MODIFIEDS:

The modified field keep getting stronger with 4 fields over 20 and a record of 25 racers for the Holiday race. Last year’s Modified point champ Mark Williams has scored 5 wins and is holding a 12 point lead over Cory Reinhard. A strong start this year for Cory as he has collected 2 wins and 3 Runner Up finishes. Randy Haydt holds down the 3rd spot by 3 points over Jim LeVan who got to the winner’s circle 1 time this year and has added 4 Top 5 finishes. Toby Reinhard is in 5th a tie for 6th with Tim ” Little T ” Bowers and Tom Wenner, Scott Bender 8th Mike Mackaravitz 9th and Billy Decker 10th

NASCAR:

Tom Wenner opened the season with his 1st career Cup win, Mark Williams scored the next 2 wins, while Jim LeVan won the annual Road Course race. Mark goes into the final 3 races holding a 6 point  edge on Tom Wenner. While Randy Haydt, Jim Levan and Brian Sponagle are holding down the rest of the Top 5.The NASCAR opener turned out a field of 22 racers.

SPRINTS:

Going into the final 3 races Tom Wenner is holding a slim 6 point lead while Tom has won the last 2 races, Randy Haydt has had a strong season having 3 straight Runner Up finishes, Randy and Opening night winner Mark Williams are tied for 2nd. Jim LeVan is 4th and Scott Bender 5th.

IROC:

With only 2 races in last years IROC champ Randy Haydt looks to be tough again. Randy has scored both wins in the season opening Doubleheader on the Tub Track. Mike Mackaravitz and Brian Sponagle are tied for 2nd while Chris Brubaker and Jim LeVan are tied for 4th. IROC racing returns in January with another doubleheader on the Tri-Oval.

Mark Williams Scores Fifth Modified Feature Win

Modified racing was back on the 8 lane Oval for it’s annual Scott Bender Holiday/Photo night. With a record high of 25 racers filling the pit area Mark Williams scored 5 segment wins on the middle lanes to claim the win. Back after a long absence, Kenny Gilmore scored 3 segment wins for a good 2nd place finish. Great run for Mike Mackaravitz as he scored his best career Modified finish scoring 3 segment wins on lanes 1,2 &4 to finish 3rd. Just 3 pieces of track behind, Randy Haydt scored 4 segment wins to finish 4th. Mike Fitzgerald ran his white #4 to a solid 5th place finish scoring 2 segment wins. Tom Wenner “SPRINTS” To 2nd Win Of Season

Sprint cars were on the 8 lane for their 3rd race of the season and Tom Wenner claimed his 2nd straight Winged win. Tom scored 4 segment wins on lanes 1-4 and had to hold off a strong run by Randy Haydt who also scored 4 segment wins on the outer lanes,  just missing out on the win by 9 pieces of track. That was Randy’s 3rd straight Runner Up finish. Jim LeVan scored his best sprint car run of the season with a steady 3rd place finish. Trailing Jim by just 13 pieces of track Mark Williams scored 1 segment win to finish 4th. Scott Bender scored 1 segment win (Thanks Randy!) to close out the Top5.

FAST FACTS: Want to thank Kenny Gilmore for sponsoring the night. Good having our Sprint car flagger “Spoons” in the field again got a segment win and a 9th place finish. Close racing from 3rd to 6th being separated by less than 1 lap. Another infield incident with Spanky no word yet on his condition?  Next Week Modifieds on the 8 lane.

Mark Williams Scores Mod Win on SDS Photo Night

Point leader Mark Williams scored 6 segment wins on way to his 4th Modified win of the year Tuesday night. Turning in his best Modified run this season, Tom Wenner ran his Pauch machine to 4 segment wins and came home with a solid 2nd place finish. Cory Reinhard continued his consistent season scoring 1 segment win to finish 3rd. Trailing Cory by just 16 pieces of track, Jim LeVan scored 1 segment win on lane 2 for a good 4th place effort. Jim LeVan scores a dominating NASCAR victory on the Aurora Tub Track

Veteran Driver Jim LeVan scored a dominating feature win on Tuesday, November 26 on the Aurora Tub Track road course. Jim LeVan has served notice that he is loaded to win. LeVan dominated action on Tuesday scoring all 6 segment wins while only falling off 1 time and it was in lane 6 late in the segment. Jim ran a near flawless race and was a awarded the victory lane laurels. Finishing in 2nd Place was invader Nick Wummer who is always very strong in road course action, Nick scored 3 segment wins while on the way to the runnerup position. Cory Reinhard Scores 2nd Modified Win

Modified racing was back on the 8 lane fast track Tuesday night  and Cory Reinhard scored a convincing win scoring 7 segment wins to claim first. It was Cory’s 5th straight Top 2 finish. Mike Fitzgerald turned in his best run on the 8 lane as he scored 2 segment wins on way to a solid 2nd place finish. Capping off a good night for TCS racing, Toby Reinhard scored 3 segment wins as he “coasted” to a good 3rd place finish. Scott Bender did not score a segment win but scored his 1st top 5 finish coming home 4th. After trying to get his “Hot Stock” past tech Randy Haydt ran his Freddy Adam coupe to a 5th place finish. Just 12 pieces of track behind, Tom Wenner scored 3 segment wins to finish 6th. Trailing Tom by just 5 pieces of track Mark Williams finished 7th. Tim “ Little T ” Bowers  scored 2 segment wins to finish 8th. Last weeks winner Jim LeVan finished 9th and Billy Decker scored his 5th top 10 finished to close out the top10.

PIT TALK:

Another strong field of 20 racers were in the pits. It was the 2nd time this year. Close racing in the mid pack as 4th to 8th were separated by less than 1 lap. Good having Bill Rowley and Bruce Komaldi making their 1st starts of the season. Next Week Cup racing on the Tub Track.

Randy Haydt “SWEEPS” IROC Season Opener

The IROC season opened with a doubleheader on the Tub-Track 17 racers were in the pit area and in the Opener Randy Haydt  scored 2 segment wins on way to a close win. Just 12 pieces of track behind Brian Sponagle claimed 3 segment wins on way to a good Runner Up finish. Trailing “Spoons ” by just 14 pieces of track Jim LeVan scored 1 segment win to finish 3rd. Jim LeVan Scores First Modified Win

A good night of racing on the the Tri-Oval, as Jim Levan scored his 1st Modified win of the year. It was a “photo finish” at the wire as Jim held off  a strong run by Cory Reinhard by 1 piece of track to get the checkered flag. Jim scored 2 segment wins on lanes 2&3, while Cory scored 3 segment wins on the front 3 lanes, it was his 4th straight Top 2 finish. Less than 1 lap behind Randy Haydt ran his Miami Dolphin car to 3 segment wins but had a bad run on lane 6 and still had a good 3rd place finish. Brian Sponagle continued his good runs on the Tri-Oval, had a slow start on lanes 1&2 but came on strong winning his final 4 segments to come home 4th. [Read more…]
