Sheldon Hiester stakes claim to the ’22 Randy’s Raceway Sprint Car Title with his 3rd Sprint Car feature win of the season

In the final race event of the ’22 season, The 410 Sprint Cars were scheduled on the Randy’s Raceway 8 Lane Oval. Sheldon Hiester and Matt Light came into the event in a tie for the championship points. Both drivers entered the evening tied in points and feature wins with 2 a piece. In what was a very stressful night for Sheldon, He broke his ride winning car down and rebuilt it in the pit area right before green flag racing started. The attention in the pit area certainly helped the Hiester 410, Sheldon was on the mark winning 5 straight segments and coming close in the 6th. Sheldon only de-slotted 3 times all night. With the victory, Sheldon secured the ’22 Sprint Car title by 3 points. [Read more…]

Matt Light puts an exclamation point on his modified championship season at Randy’s Raceway by scoring his 2nd modified feature win on Championship Night

Matt Light has had an incredible season of slot car racing at Randy’s Raceway. Light won on 12/28 and then locked down the championship with a strong win tonight. But the most impressive stat has been the consistency Light has shown all season in his championship run. Light has 6 – 2nd place finishes and 1 – 3rd place finish in 15 modified events this season. Tom Wenner and Brian Sponagle score IROC Feature wins while Michael Mackaravitz is crowned the 2022 Randy’s Raceway IROC Class Champion

Tuesday Night was the IROC Class Championship Night at Randy’s Raceway. A doubleheader on the Randy’s Raceway 8 Lane Oval using vintage original Non-Magnatraction AFX Chevelle Stockers and vintage original Non-Magnatraction AFX Corvette IROC Sets. Both sets were tuned by the godfather of Tjets Hiram Durant and track master Randy Jay Haydt before the nights racing action. Michael Mackaravitz came into the final event with a solid 50 point lead over Randy Jay Haydt and 58 points over Brian Sponagle in 3rd. [Read more…]

🏆 Brian Sponagle scored the Tuesday Night 8 Lane TYCO 440×2 Modified feature win and locked down his 4th consecutive feature event win. Spoons has won IROC Tyco Trucks, IROC OS3 TFX Super Lates, TYCO NASCAR and this week’s TYCO Modified A Mains. Is it time to place a 💲 Bounty on Mr. Spoons for this week? Brian Sponagle won 2 segments on the Fast 8 Lane piloting his Team Haydt 44 Modified to the win. Matt Light finished in 2nd spot while racing next to Spoons all night. Light scored 3 segment wins on the evening. There is 1 Modified Race remaining on the ’21-22 schedule and Matt Light leads Randy Jay Haydt by 25 markers in the season championship standings heading into that final night. Our final podium finisher on the night was Mark Williams. The legendary Champion returned to Randy’s Raceway for competition and ripped off a strong podium finish. Mark won 2 segments on the night.

Matt Light scores an impressive feature event win and ties Sheldon Hiester for the Randy’s Raceway point lead

Matt Light raced to the feature event win on Tuesday night with 2 segment wins. Light was on the mark with only 3 de-slots and had the field covered by almost a full lap. With the Tuesday Night victory Matt Light is now tied for the Randy’s Raceway Sprint Car Point Lead with Sheldon Hiester with only 1 Sprint Car race remaining on the ’21-22 season schedule. Scoring the 2nd place finish was Eric Beard. Eric is always very strong when the winged sprints hit the track. Eric won 3 segments on the night. Wrapping up the podium, Mike Fitzgerald with 1 segment win. Fitzie is on a tear of late with another solid run on the Randy’s Raceway 8 Lane Oval.

Tom Wenner owned VW Bus Vans sitting on ECHORR Based Super Stock Tjets were raced. The other class raced was Ed Kenderdine owned AFX Tomy Chevrolet Grand Am Camaro Race Cars.

Randy Jay Haydt scores the final leg of the Memorial Triple Crown Series & Clinches the Triple Crown Championship in dominating fashion.

Randy Jay Haydt came to race on Tuesday Night and he was well prepared for the final race of the Memorial Triple Crown Series. The race celebrated the memory of Bob Amore. Bob was a long time supporter of Randy’s Raceway. Bob produced and sold Modified Slot Car Bodies for many years. His mark left on the hobby still is in full swing still today as many people continue to race his product. All cars in the Tuesday field were racing an actual body that was produced by Bob. RIP Bob. Randy Jay Haydt was near perfect on Tuesday. Randy won all 6 segments and only deslotted 3 times. His 901 Mod was truly hooked up. [Read more…]
