It was a long time coming but veteran H.O. racer Shane Hiester from the racing Hiester family finally won his career first Modified feature.  The win by almost 1 full lap came on the tight short track know as Monk”s oval.  Hiester won 3 segments and only had 6 fall offs on the tricky six lane oval.  Previously Hietser has had many runner-ups at Randy’s Raceway but that first win had eluded him.  Finshing a career best also as the second place car was Bryan K who won two segments and was strong on all lanes getting a win on tough lane one, which was the only driver of 19 to get a win on lane one.  [Read more…]

MODIFIED SEASON WRAP

Here is the 2011 / 2012 Randy’s Raceway Modified season wrap up.  We had 34 racers compete in the headline division in 15 shows during the season.  Nine drivers made all 15 races.  I will review the top 20 in points and also have career stats included with the summaries.

20th  SAM SOBOEWSKI  Sam ran with us 3 times and is Bretts buddy.  He learned real quick and seemed to get better each time out.

19th  LARRY SANDERS   Larry made in in for 3 races this season and has been working on his tyco program trying to get the set up just right.  Larry just missed the top ten on all three runs finishing 11th each time.

Williams Wins Sixth Feature

Mark Williams won his sixth Modified feature of this season and locked up the season points championship.  Williams ran the pink Kenny Gilmore prepared tyco sweeping all eight lanes with only 5 falloffs.  17 racers were on hand and Shane Hiester ran a strong race winning his first 5 segments to grab 2nd on the evening.  Sheldon Hiester won on lane 1 and then turned in steady runs the rest of the way grabbing third spot.  Fourth was Brett Gilmore in his #7 followed by Toby Reinhard who picked up his first modified segment win of the season and a real strong top 5 finish.  Sixth through tenth were Bill Brenner, Jim Levan, Eric Beard, Tony Z and veteran Mike Feltenberger in his Bulllock #76.

Modified Madness

Veteran Bill Brenner had a good run in the Beard #18 bringing it home 6th in the next too last race for this season.  Tony Z also won a segment in the Billy Decker prepared #44.  Decker has fielded 2 strong modified teams all season and the combination of Bill and Tony has been a real surprise this year.  Good luck to that team the rest of this season and we hope they return as a team next year.  Cory Rienhard made his night a good one finishing 13th even though he did not feel taht good.  With the whole sppring ahead daylight savings time coming this weekend does anybody have a clue what the clocks at Randy’s raceway will look like on Tuesday night……………..
