First Sportsman Win This Season for Sheldon Hiester

On Tuesday night November 26, 2013 at Randy’s Raceway it was the 4th race of the season for the Sportsman.  There were 14 drivers in the pits for the race due to a chance of in climate weather.  With the weather in mind Randy changed it from a double show to a single show so that if people didn’t come because of the weather they were not taken out of the points battle.  The second race will be added to the Tri-Oval one of the other times we are up there this season yet.  Now back to the race.  Taking his first win of the season was Sheldon Hiester.  The defending co-champion won 3 segments on the night in route to the win.  Second went to Mark Williams.  Mark won 3 segments on the night.  Third went to Shane Hiester.  Shane won 4 segments on the night.  [Read more…]

Mark Williams won his fifth Modified main event by a narrow margin over Shane Hiester on the Tri-Oval.  Williams won 5 out of his 6 segments and escaped with the win by just 3 pieces over Shane Hiester.  Hiester won 4 segments for a strong run.  The two drivers never ran head to head however.   Sheldon Hiester ran a steady race all night to come home third winning 3 segments.  Fourth spot went to Scott Bender who ran a real strong race winning three segments and had one of his best runs upstairs in awhile.  Fifth spot went to Randy Haydt scoring his best modified finish in a long time.  Sixth through tenth were Corey Bailey, Bryan Kisthart, Eric Beard, Billy Decker and Bill Brenner.

Cup racing returned for it’s 3rd race of the season on the 8 lane Speedway and Kenny Gilmore made his 1st start a narrow win. Kenny scored 3 segment wins on way to a close 5 piece of track win. ECHORR Veterans Day Race held at Randy’s Raceway II

Once again it was time for ECHORR to hold the Veterans Day Race to honor our heroic Veterans who fought for our country. There were 18 racers making their trip from the states of Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania to the back roads near Oley Pa to attend the annual event.
Saturday was an open practice and 13 racers came on that day to start their car setups for Sundays race. Our fine hosts Jody and Mark Williams had a lunch prepared for those who were there. This was nice having something like this included on a practice day. When practice was over around 5 a few of us went out for dinner to the local eatery down the road. A few hours of socializing went by before we decided to leave and get some rest before race day.
On Sunday morning the doors opened at 8 am and there was coffee and doughnuts for all.
Everyone had more practice time and racing was to start at 10. Someone missed Hiram’s name on the signup sheet so we had to figure were the extra car came from ? Racing started at 10:10 am for the Super Stock Class on Randy’s Roving Raceway 16 foot version. The top three places all tied with 91 laps and only sections determined the winner. Bryan Kisthart ( Emmaus PA ) beat Derek Scheaffer ( Harrisburg PA ) by 8 sections for the win. Derek finished in 2nd place and was 11 sections ahead of 3rd place Hiram Durant ( Westminster MD). Donny Auriema ( Scotch Plains NJ ) was less then 1 lap off the pace finishing in 4th. Travis Galditsch ( Berrysburg PA ) had a great run to round out the top 5.
Next on the racing agenda was the Indy Class on the 24 foot long 6-Lane Oval. As it happened last year Henry Harnish ( Randolph NJ ) drove his way to the winners circle by just a little more then a 1-lap margin. Hiram Durant raced to the 2nd place spot with only a quaint 1-lap victory over Victor Quiones in 3rd. Bryan Kisthart was 4th and Mark Williams ( Oley PA ) was showing his oval force finished 5th.
After the first 2 races it was time for the food break and track transformation. Everyone enjoyed the BBQs, hot dogs, tomato pie, side dishes, and deserts served by our hosts. I changed the track from 16 foot to 12 foot to run the Nostalgia class.
Bryan Kisthart showed his winning ways by taking a 2-lap win over 2nd place Randy Haydt ( Kutztown PA ). 3rd place went to Ron Schrader ( Quakertown PA ) who had a very solid run only 1-lap down to 2nd. Chuck Scheaffer was in 4th by sections over the next 4 contenders all had 59 laps. Rounding out the top 5 was Donny Auriema.
