Kisthardt Takes Second Win in Modified

Bryan Kisthart won for the second time this season his 7th career Modified win at Randy’s Raceway.  The win moved him ahead of Little T on the All-Time Feature win list.  Kisthart scored a perfect 120 on the Tri-Oval winning all 6 of his segments. Finishing second was Mark Williams (1seg) third spot went to Randy Haydt (4 seg) Fourth was Sam Heller (2 seg) and rounding out the top five was Jim LeVan (2 seg).

 

18 racers in the field and we had some regulars missing.  How was the game Scott Bender?  Veteran Bill Decker continues his good season with a 7th in the fast field of 18.  Brian VanBuskirk turned in a nice run with a 12th and a lead lap run on lane 3.

Mark Williams, Adam Zappacosta 1 / 2 In NASCAR Main Event

Mark Williams won his 3rd NASCAR race in a narrow victory over a determined Adam Zappacosta.  Williams won 5 segments on the night and won a close one. Adam Zappacosta started strong on lane 1 and followed through with 2 wins on lanes 2 and 5.  For the young Conrad Weiser student this was his career best finish here at Randy’s Raceway.  Third spot went to Brian Sponagle with segment wins on lanes 4,5 and 6.  Fourth was opening night winner and current third man in points Billy Decker.  Decker won 2 segments.  Rounding out the top 5 was Cory Reinhard.

Haydt, Bender 1 and 2 in Sprint Action

Randy Haydt won the Sprint Car feature last Tuesday night as he bested a strong field of 14 racers.  Battling with the defending Sprint Champion Scott Bender for much of the night as they raced side by side by luck of the draw.  At the finish after both winning two segments they were only separated by 9 pieces of track.  Seven different drivers won segments on the evening.  Third spot at the drop of the checkered went to Bryan Kisthardt.  BK won 4 segments.  Fourth spot was Jim LeVan who won 3 segments.  Rounding out the top five was Cory Reinhard with a lone segment victory.

AROUND THE TRACK

Thanks to Gary for sponsoring the event and also to Scott for the photo of Gilmore Motorsports for a random drawing.  With 14 racers checked in this week the fields have been good for not just Modified but also NASCAR and Sprint racing.  Good having Larry and Ed racing with us regularly this season.   Brian Vanbuskirk picked up a top ten this week with a lead lap run on lane 4.  And a thank you to ECHORR for the Team Challenge race recently at the Kutztown Fairgrounds.  Randy’s Raceway teams competed and had a good showing considering the lack of road course experience.

Double Header Results From Cup and IROC Divisions

Mark Williams won the NASCAR Cup feature on the Tri-Oval for his second win in a row at Randy’s Raceway in this division.  Williams drove his Orange car to 5 segment wins and narrowly missed winning on lane 1.  Veteran racer out of Reading Jim LeVan was a strong second winning 3 segments on lanes 2-4.  Third spot went to Randy Haydt who won 4 segments and continues his strong season in the Sprint Cup class.  Fourth was Brian Sponagle who had 1 segment win in his Penn State racer. Williams Wins Cup Race

Mark Williams won his first Cup race of the season at Randy’s Raceway.  For Williams it was his 25th career Cup win tying him with Randy Haydt for second place on the win list for Cup.  Williams won 5 segments of the 12 lap variety due to the double show with IROC.  Second spot Went to Randy Haydt who won 3 segments and had another strong run in the Cup division this season.  Third spot was opening night winner veteran Billy Decker who won a single segment on lane 8.  Fourth was young gun Cory Reinhard, the  Boyertown HS Junior had 2 segment wins and very consistant runs on all lanes.  [Read more…]

Williams Wins Sprint Opener for 2016 / 2017 Season

Veteran Mark Williams used a lone segment win and consistent runs on all other lanes to win the season Sprint car 25 lap opener.  The win was his 15th career in the Sprint division.  Second spot was Bryan Kisthardt who won 3 segments and was only 12 pieces of track behind.  Finishing third was Randy Haydt who also won 3 segments,  Fourth spot went to Billy Decker winner of a single segment on lane 4.  Rounding out the top five was Jim LeVan.  [Read more…]

Bender Wins First Ever Point Championship

Long time veteran racer Scott Bender won the Sprint Car Championship at Randy’s Raceway this season.  This was his first ever championship and very much deserved.  Scott had a dominating performance this year in the 6 race series, scoring 3 wins and 3 seconds.  Bender added 21 segment wins as well.  The victory on November 11th was also a career first.  He now has 33 career segment wins in a Sprinter.  We had 15 racers take a green in the class this year which returned to a more regular status with the Sportsman class going away this year.  Mark Williams wound up second in points after scoring his win on opening night back in September.  Williams now has 14 career Sprint wins for second place behind Kenny Gilmore.  [Read more…]

2015 – 2016 Modified Season in Review

A very successful Modified season was completed this year.  We had 22 racers signed in for action during the season with an average of around 15 each week.  13 races were presented with two cancelled for weather.  An amazing total of 16 drivers won segments this year and we had three different feature winners.  Mark Williams won his 5th Modified Championship.

Annual Banquet Is Well Attended

The annual awards banquet for the 2015/ 2016 season at Randy’s Raceway was well attended by racers and their families. Thanks to all that attended the banquet and had a hand in a very successful year.  Randy was able to thank everyone during the nights activities. It is really a great group and everyone helps to make the racing great. The awards were handed out including the Point Champions. Mark Williams won the Modified and NASCAR series while Scott Bender scored his first ever at any track championship in the Sprint

Williams Wins Modified Finale

Mark Williams won the season finale for the Modifieds at Randy’s Raceway.  A full field of 14 racers were on hand to close out the 2015 / 2016 season on the 8 lane.  Williams who also locked up the points title won 5 segments. Second spot went to Toby Reinhard who always seems to close out the season strong.  The Boyertown racer won 2 segments and was chased across the line by third place runner Brian Sponagle who also won 2 segments.  Fourth was Scott Bender who won a segment on lane 4.  That blue lane has been really good this season.  Rounding out the top five was Jim LeVan who won 2 segments. Sixth through tenth were, Cory Reinhard, Chris Brubaker, Tony Zappacosta, Randy Haydt and John Kosmoski.

Notes-  We have missed BK the last few weeks and hope to see him soon.  Also glad to hear Veteran Bob Amore is feeling better.  Lane 4 won five of the 14 segments.  A thank you to Gary Zappacosta for sponsoring the nights activities.
