Year Ending Awards Banquet at Randy’s Raceway

Tuesday April 12, 2011 was the Annual Awards Banquet at Randy’s Raceway.  The night started out with the awards being handed out to all the racers that ran enough events to be in the top 15 in points.  Each racer received a hat, yearly statistics book, and a cash reward.  Then it was time to eat.  Sandwiches, veggie tray, chips, pretzels, and plenty of desserts were there to eat.  What is better to do on a full belly than get an extra helping of a slot car race in afterwards.  There were 16 racers that stayed to wash down all the good food with a race.  [Read more…]

Amore, Master of the Bull Rings, Dominates Randy’s 10th Anniversary Race

Tuesday April 19th Randy’s Raceway held an IROC style race on the original track of his club, the tricky tri-oval. Although it was a bit disappointing that several of Randy’s most successful racers over the years couldn’t come out to honor Randy for his dedication to providing H.O. racing for many racers from Pa. and even NJ, 13 racers did show up to race with and “roast” Randy as well as share some cake with him. John Kosmoski, Shane Hiester Tie for RMS Win

It was the season’s final point race of the year at RMS on Sunday and John Kosmoski and Shane Hiester tied for the win. Each turned in exact scores on all 4 lanes, winning 2 segments on lanes 1 & 2, both recording their 1st RMS win. Mike Fitzpatrick scored 1 segment win on way to a steady 3rd place run. Sheldon Hiester scored 1 segment win claiming a 4th place finish. Scott Bender scored 1 segment win on way to a 5th place finish.

Congrats to Rich Schmidt this years point champion. And thanks for the pizza that was supplied for everyone. Next year look for a new T-Jet division to be started that will be run after the Storm race. Check back for the year in review, and summer test dates.

Bob Amore, Shane Hiester Score Season Ending Wins

It was the final Cup race of the season on the Tri-Oval, and Bob Amore turned in his 1st win of the year. Bob scored 5 segment wins becoming the 5th different winner in the 9-race season. Early season winner Jim Levan turned in a good run winning 3 segments to finish 2nd.Scott Bender turned in a season best 3rd place finish scoring 3 segment wins. Sheldon Hiester registered his 5th top 5 run of the year to finish 4th. Shane Hiester finished off a strong Cup season winning 3 segments to finish 5th. [Read more…]

Triple Header Sportsman / Sportsman / IROC

The first race of a triple-header at Randy’s Raceway was Race #5 of the season for the Sportsman.  There were 17 racers on hand for the first race.  Taking the win on the Short track was Sheldon Hiester.  Sheldon won 5 segments on the night.  Second went to point leader Shane Hiester.  Shane won 4 segments on the night and only lost by 7 segments to take second.  Third went to Randy Haydt.  Randy won 3 segments in another strong outing in a Hiester prepared Sportsman.  Fourth went to Mark Williams.  Mark won 3 segments on the night in a Hiester back-up car.  Rounding out the top 5 was Fred McCullough.  Fred won 2 segments on the night.  The rest of the top 10 goes like this: [Read more…]
