Mark Williams scored his third and fourth Modified wins of the season in the twin 15 show on the Tri-Oval at Randy’s Raceway. Williams driving the Gilmore Motorsports #14 won 5 segments in each show to score narrow wins over 2 cagey veterans Billy Decker in the first half and Bob Amore in the night cap. Williams won on all lanes but one for the first win followed closely by Billy Decker who won 3 segments in his fast yellow modified. Williams Wins Modified Main on 8 Lane
Mark Williams won his second straight Modified feature of the young season. Williams won driving the Gilmore #7 replica slot car. Winning 6 segments on the evening, missing on lane 2 and getting caught and passed on the final lap by Corey Bailey on lane 8. Second spot went to veteran Shane Hiester who continued his early season hot streak winning a segment on lane 2. Third was older brother Sheldon Hiester who wound up 3rd for the second straight race. 2012 – 2013 Modified Season Review
This years season review will consist of a wrap-up of last season, a section on career stats and a sneak peek at what’s coming next season.
The past season at Randy’s Raceway saw 28 racers compete in the Modified Class with around 20 on a regular basis. It was great having long time slot car racers Chad Favinger, Bill Rowley and Gary Hetrick making an appearance as well as Big T who made a few shows when his schedule permitted. We had seven racers make every show and 6 different feature winners. 15 drivers won at least 1 segment with Sheldon Hiester garnering the tops with 44 segment victories. We had 3 Rookies finish in the top ten of points.

Annual Banquet Well Attended
The 12th annual Randy’s Raceway awards banquet was well attended and all had plenty of good food and fun. After the awards, which included naming the Division Point Champions and special award recipients, everyone had a great meal then a fun race on the Tub track with Road course rules. Special thanks to all who helped in anyway with the organizing, race night operations, helping fellow racers.
Shane Hiester Wins Season Finale for Fifth Mod Victory
Shane Hiester won his 5th Modified feature of the season at Randy’s Raceway. Hiester who completed a mad dash at the point title fell short by just six points. Sheldon Hiester won his very first Modified Championship at Randy’s Raceway with an efficient third place finish in the final show. Veteran Bill Brenner was second in the race and looked real strong in his Eric Beard prepped racer. Williams Sweeps Twin Mod Show
Mark Williams won the final two features on the Short Track at Randy’s Raceway. Williams who had never won on the 6-lane oval in 10 years of trying took the first race in a close one over veteran Mike Bear Feltenberger who was looking for his first career win at the Berks ovals. In the second race Williams had a safer margin over Points leader Sheldon Hiester. Williams ran the smooth Sheldon Hiester car to the two feature wins. [Read more…]
Shane Hiester Wins Fourth Modified Main
Veteran Shane Hiester squeaked out a victory by the slimmest of margins after winning all six lanes on the tricky Tri-Oval. With the win Shane is now just 1 behind his brother Sheldon. Mark Williams running the Gilmore #7 finished second just missing a perfect by 1 piece of track. Sheldon Heister Takes Fifth Modified Win
Randy’s Raceway veteran Sheldon Hiester won 3 segments on his way to feature win number 5 this season at the Berks County Oval. For Hiester the win was a tough one as he battled the track and tough competition on the lower lanes and won on lanes 4, 5, and 7. 21 Racers were on hand so the format switched to 15 lappers with 4 falloffs. We had a few really close races with multiple cars in the hunt. Second spot went to Shane Hiester who won lanes 1 thru 4 before someone knocked him off the unbeaten track. Third spot in a really strong run went to Exeter’s Mike Fitzgerald. Fitz won three lanes and was only 11 pieces behind Shane at the finish. [Read more…]
Shane Hiester and Eric Beard Split Twin Bill
Shane Hiester won the first half of a Modified double show on the Short Track Tuesday night. For the Sinking Spring racer it was his third feature win this season and moved him a bit closer to his brother in the season point battle with only a few shows left. Shane won segments on lanes 5&6 and beat the runner up Corey Bailey by only 5 pieces of track. Bailey took home his career best finish winning three lanes. Veteran racer Sheldon Hiester won his 4th Modified feature of the season this week at Randy’s Raceway. This was also his fourth feature win in a row overall at the Berks speedplant.
