Williams wins Sprint car title by 2 points !

Going into the season’s final sprint car race 3 drivers had a shot at the title. Mark Williams turned in a 2nd place finish in the season’s final race and that was just enough to hold off Cory Reinhard by 2 points and Randy Haydt by 3 points. A good year for Mark as he scored a mid season win and 17 segment wins on his way to the title. Cory Reinhard had a strong season as he posted 3 wins in 4 races but a 6th place finish in the season’s final race cost Cory his shot at the title. Still a strong season as he scored 15 segment wins in the 5 race season. Steady year for Randy Haydt as was the only driver to have 5 Top5’s and a win in the season’s final race to go along with 14 segment wins for a 3rd place finish. Last year’s Sprint car champion Jim Levan collected 3 Top5 finishes and 10 segment wins to come home 4th. Good Sprint car season for Tom Wenner who had a 3rd place run in race 2 and 2 more Top5 ‘s scoring 11 segment wins, closed out the fast 5.

6-10- Scott Bender who had 4 Top5 finishes was 6th, Toby Reinhard had a 3rd place finish along with 3 segment wins was 7th. Billy Decker had a 6th place effort in race 3 was 8th. Tony Zappacosta was 9th and Ed Kenderdine closed out the Top10.

SEGMENT WINNERS: Williams-17, C.Reinhard-15, Haydt 14, Wenner-11, Levan-10.

FEATURE WINNERS: C.Reinhard-3, Williams-1, Haydt-1.

HOT WINGS: For the 2nd straight year the Sprint car season lost a race due to weather. The 5 race season drew an average of 16 racers up from last season. The top 7 in points won at least 2 segments. Mike Fitzgerald ran 3 races, had 2 segment wins and a 5th place points finish.

Haydt Scores IROC Title Convincingly

Veteran Randy Haydt scored a convincing win in the season long IROC Championship.   Haydt won by more than 30 points with 2 feature wins and 13 segment wins in the IROC Class that held 9 races this season.  22 racers took part in the year with 20 of them scoring segment wins and 6 scoring feature wins.  Mark Williams finished the season with a feature win on the final night and added 12 segment wins to finish in the second spot.  Third was Jim LeVan who had 2 feature victories and 11 segments.  Fourth was Brian Sponagle the defending champion who also had 2 feature wins and a season high 14 segment wins.  Rounding out the top five was Cory Reinhard who scored 8 segment wins.  Sixth was Toby Reinhard who was a feature winner on opening night and had 7 segment wins.  Seventh went to Savvy Cunnius who had 5 segment wins and a second in the feature held in November.  Position Eight was Ed Kenderdine who had a best finish of third in March to go along with 4 segment wins.  Brian VanBuskirk was ninth with 7 segment wins and 2 top five feature finishes.  Rounding out the top ten in his first season at Randy’s was ECHORR Ace Hiram Durant with 4 segment wins.  Sam Heller scored a feature win in November although he was not a regular racer this year.

The top five in lowest fall-off average for the season are Hiram Durant 1.67, Larry Sanders 3.00, Chris Brubaker 3.40, James Hammershock 3.50 and Mike Mackaravitz 3.50.

Top ten Career IROC Feature winners- R. Haydt 23, Kenny Gilmore 15, Mark Williams 14, Dave Richards 6, Sam Heller,Jim LeVan and Brian Sponagle 5, Shane Hiester 4, Sheldon Hiester 3, Toby Reinhard and Bob Amore 2.

Top ten Career Segment winners-  Mark Williams 135, Randy Haydt 131, Jim LeVan 99, Bob Amore 79, Kenny Gilmore 73, Sam Heller 59, Brian Sponagle 45, Scott Bender 41, Shane Hiester and Billy Decker 40.

Modified Season Review Mark Williams wins Modified Point Title

This years 15 race Modified season was filled with big fields, close racing and some good wrecks!. Mark Williams had a dominating season on way to the Point Title. Mark saw victory lane 12 times and scored 81 segment wins. He also had a fall off average of 2.93 and all that adds up to a championship season. Cory Reinhard lead TCS racing in the Modified class with a win in the season’s final race to go along with 51 segment wins. Reinhard was only out of the Top5, 2 times. He finished a strong 2nd in the final point totals. Randy Haydt finished a solid 3rd in the final totals with 10 Top5 finishes and 32 segment wins. Scott Bender scored a win in the Season Opener than added 8 more Top5 finishes to wind up 4th this season. Jim LeVan scored 26 segment wins along with 8 Top5’s  for a good 5th place finish. Brian Sponagle scored a mid season win on the always challenging Tri-Oval and added 13 segment wins for a good season finishing 6th. Toby Reinhard had a solid 2nd place finish in November and added 4 more Top 5 finishes and 16 segment wins to finish 7th. This Years “Rookie of the Year” Tom Wenner finished 8th in the standing, Tom had 15 segment wins and 2 Top5 finishes. Veteran Billy Decker was 9th and Savannah Cunnius nearly got that 1st win on Opening night finishing 2nd along with 6 segment wins for a good 10th place finish. Getting the “Most Improved Award” Ed Kenderdine finished 12th with a pair of 3rd place finishes and 10 segment wins. Strong modified season for TCS racing with all 3 drivers finishing in the Top10, including 1 win and a total of 72 segment wins. Another welcome mid season addition was Mike Mackaravitz and youngster James Hamershock. Mike finished 18th while James was 19th and got his 1st segment win in the seasons final race. Also good having Susquehanna Late Model Point champion Brian Shuey joining us for 2 mid season races hope to see him back next year. Mike Fitzgerald made 5 starts this year and 3 of them were in the Top5.

 

FULL FIELDS: This years 15 race season drew an average of 18.7 racers up from last year. With 5 fields over 20 and a record high 25 for the XMAS race. Good battle from 3rd to 6th as 64 points separated those spots. A total of 31 racers made starts. Top 12 in points won at least 2 segments and a total of 17 racers scored a segment win. Want to Thank Savvy for doing a great job with the 50/50 this year( and not putting Randys tixs in!). Also Jodi handling the scoring all year and putting up with Randy sitting beside her. When are we getting the Cup holders?

Randy Haydt Wins Small Block Title

After dropping to 4th last year in the Small Block point chase, Randy Haydt rebounded with a very steady season to claim the point title. Randy scored his only win in race 2 added 3 more Top 5 finishes along with 12 segment wins to win the championship. Sheldon Hiester scored a win in the season final race to finish 2nd in the standing. For his 1st season in Small Blocks Fred McCullouch registered 4 Top 5’s including Runner Up finishes in the final 2 races to finish a strong 3rd in the standing. Mark Williams scored a win in race 3 on the Tri-Oval and added 10 segment wins to finish 4th. Shane Hiester scored 3 top5 finishes to close out the Top 5.Tim ” LittleT ” Bowers scored 2 Top 5 finishes and a 4th at Woodland Raceway to finish 6th. Cory Reinhard won the Series opener, added 8 segment wins on way to a 7th place finish. Ed Kenderdine got his 1st Berks Series win and 7 segment wins was 8th. Toby Reinhard had a 5th place run in the Series Opener, along with 7 segment wins was 9th. Tom Wenner scored a pair of 6th place finishes added 2 segment wins was 10th.

A Brand New 3 Race TYCO Race Program

A Brand New 3 Race TYCO Race Program is coming to the area.  Racing at three local Speedways will include the Mighty Modifieds and the Super Sprints.  Any Modified or Sprint from Randy’s Raceway, Little T’s Speedway or Hiester’s H.O. Raceway will be legal.  Doors will open at 11:00 with Racing beginning at 12:00 for all events.  Twin 15’s will be the race card and in between shows at intermission a special fun event will be held.  These events will have no entry fee and points will not be kept.  Please support this new program and check back on Randy’s Raceway webpage or Facebook sites for updates.

Mark Williams Wins Big Block Points Title in Berks / Lebanon Series

The BLMRS capped off it’s 4th season of racing and for the 2nd straight year Mark Williams took home the title in the Big Block Class. Williams scored 3 mid season wins along with with 2 Runner-Up finishes and 13 segment wins on his way to the Title. Sheldon Hiester scored a season ending win and 7 segments to finish 2nd in the final standings. Randy Haydt used  a Runner-Up finish in race 3 and 2 other Top 5’s to come home 3rd. Tim “Little T”Bowers scored a win in the Series opener and 2 other Top 5 finishes to hold on to 4th in the standings. Just 2 points behind new comer this year Fred McCullough scored a 2nd place finish in race 2 and added 8 segment wins, finishing off a strong season 5th in the standings. Shane Hiester scored 7 segment wins and finished 6th. Scott Bender had a season ending 4th place run to come home 7th. Ed Kenderdine had a 4th place finish at Woodland Raceway, 7 segment wins to finish 8th. Cory Reinhard had a 5th place finish in the season final race and was 9th. Just 2 points behind, Toby Reinhard scored 3 segment wins to round out the Top10.

Jim Levan Captures the 2018-19 Randy’s Raceway NASCAR Point Championship

Today we will be looking back in review of the 2018-19 Nascar division at Randy’s Raceway. Berks racer Jim Levan captured the season long Nascar point championship. The championship title came down to the final night of racing on March 26 as less than 10 points separated Jim and 2nd place point racer from Oley Mark Williams. Both racers came ready for battle on the final night and Jim scored the commanding race win on the final night by 8 track pieces over Mark to secure his point title. 6 Points separated the top 2 spots, Tyco Legend Mark Williams finished in 2nd. Track Promoter, Randy J. finished in 3rd. Boyertown Hot Shoe Cory Reinhard capped a great season in 4th. Veteran Ace Brian Sponagle finished in the 5th spot. Blandon Rookie Tom Wenner finished 6th, Boyertown Ace Toby Reinhard finished 7th, Capping off a full set of team TCS drivers in the top 10, Savy Cunnius finished 8th, Veteran Billy Decker in 9th, and rounding out the top 10 is Chris Brubacher in 10th. 2018 / 2019 Season Ending Banquet a Success !

The Banquet was again well attended with over 30 people in attendance.  After all the point awards were made the special awards were also handed out.  Overall Rookie of the Year was Tom Wenner and the Most Improved Driver went to Ed Kenderdine.  Larry Sanders was presented the Sportsmanship Award and Scott Bender was honored as the Track Photographer.  Point Champions included Mark Williams for Modified and Sprint, Jim LeVan for Cup and Randy Haydt in the IROC Division. 

The Pizza was once again sponsored by Little T and Rachel and many other treats were brought in by the crew.  Salsa, Eggs, PB Eggs and Chocolate cake to mention a few. 

The annual banquet IROC race was held using the Coupes provided by Brian Sponagle.  21 drivers entered the race.  Mike Fitzgerald came out on top followed to the line by Chris Brubaker and Brian Sponagle.  Tom Wenner and Jim LeVan rounded out the top 5.  Grabbing 10th was young James Hammershock.  James will be a good racer next season so get your Popcorn ready.

Cory Reinhard Scores Season Ending Modified Win

After a season full of Top5 finishes and 6 Runner Up finishes Cory Reinhard drew the #1 pill and drove off to his 1st Modified win of the season. Cory scored 6 segment wins on lanes 1-6. Close racing for the Runner Up spot as Brian Sponagle turned in a strong run scoring 1 segment win to finish 2nd. Just 2 pieces of track behind Tom Wenner capped off a good Modified season scoring 4 segment wins on lanes 1-3 for his best Modified run finishing 3rd. Just 15 pieces of track behind Toby Reinhard scored 5 segment wins on lanes 2-5 on way to a 4th place finish. This Years Modified  point champion Mark Williams scored 2 segment wins to close out the Top5.
