On Wednesday night January 22, 2014 was the sixth Sportsman race of the season at Randy’s Raceway. We did use the Wednesday night make-up date after a snow out which was implemented at the start of the new calendar year. There were 10 racers on hand for the event. Taking the win was Sheldon Hiester. Sheldon won 4 segments on the night. Second went to Mark Williams. Mark won 4 segments on the night. Third went to Shane Hiester. Shane won 1 segment on the night. Williams Wins Seventh Feature
Mark Williams won for the seventh time in a close event on the Tri-Oval for the Modified class at Randy’s Raceway. Williams used 5 segment wins to get the victory by just 13 pieces of track. ECHORR standout Bryan Kisthart finished second after winning 4 segments. Kisthart has been close in oval racing and is just a matter of time until he wins on a Tuesday night show, he only had 2 falloffs all night. Sheldon and Shane Split Double Header
On Tuesday January 7, 2014 it was the first race of the new year at Randy’s Raceway in Kutztown, PA. 10 racers braved the frigid weather conditions outside, but the racing action inside was the complete opposite. It was a double show for NASCAR on the tricky Tri-Oval. Taking the win was the defending co-champion Sheldon Hiester. Sheldon won 3 segments in route to his first triumph of the season. Second went to current point leader Mark Williams. Mark won 3 segments on the night. Third went to Shane Hiester. Shane won 3 segments on the night. Fourth went to Bryan Kisthart. Bryan didn’t win any the first race, but was in most of the segments. Rounding out the top 5 was Billy Decker. Billy won 1 segment on the night. The rest of the top 10 were: 6-Bob Amore, 7-Randy Haydt, 8-Brian Vanbuskirk, 9-Brian Sponagle, and 10-Tony Zappacosta. Holiday Sportsman Event Races to a Tie
Thursday December 26, was the annual Christmas Special at Randy’s Raceway, and this year the event was a 25 Lap race for the Sportsman Division and the event was sponsored by Scott Bender Racing Photos and Chris Budihas Photography who gave some Modified Picture Magnets to hand out as door prizes. So a big Thank You to Scott and Chris for the door prizes. Now to the racing, their were 20 drivers on hand for the event, and tying for the victory with perfect scores were Mark Williams and Sheldon Hiester who both ended up with a total of 200 laps for the night. Coming home third was Kenny “Monk” Gilmore, who won 5 segments on way to the 3rd place finish. [Read more…]
Williams Wins Mod Main Event
WILLIAMS WINS MOD MAIN EVENT
Mark Williams won his 6th Modified main event this season and increased his lead in the season point standings. Williams won 5 segments after starting slowly on lanes 7 and 8. Driving a strong run was the seasons first winner Shane Hiester who won 1 segment. Williams and both Shane and Sheldon Hiester all raced right beside each other and had some good battles. Third spot went to veteran Jim Levan who turned in his strongest run this season. Levan won 3 segments in his fast Modified. Fourth went to Toby Reinhard who also had one of his best ever finishes. First Sportsman Win This Season for Sheldon Hiester
On Tuesday night November 26, 2013 at Randy’s Raceway it was the 4th race of the season for the Sportsman. There were 14 drivers in the pits for the race due to a chance of in climate weather. With the weather in mind Randy changed it from a double show to a single show so that if people didn’t come because of the weather they were not taken out of the points battle. The second race will be added to the Tri-Oval one of the other times we are up there this season yet. Now back to the race. Taking his first win of the season was Sheldon Hiester. The defending co-champion won 3 segments on the night in route to the win. Second went to Mark Williams. Mark won 3 segments on the night. Third went to Shane Hiester. Williams Wins Mod Main
Mark Williams won his fifth Modified main event by a narrow margin over Shane Hiester on the Tri-Oval. Williams won 5 out of his 6 segments and escaped with the win by just 3 pieces over Shane Hiester. Hiester won 4 segments for a strong run. The two drivers never ran head to head however. Sheldon Hiester ran a steady race all night to come home third winning 3 segments. Fourth spot went to Scott Bender who ran a real strong race winning three segments and had one of his best runs upstairs in awhile. Fifth spot went to Randy Haydt scoring his best modified finish in a long time. Sixth through tenth were Corey Bailey, Bryan Kisthart, Eric Beard, Billy Decker and Bill Brenner.
