Gilmore Wins Second in a Row

Brett Gilmore scored his second straight Modified feature win winning all 8 segments once again along the way.  A field of 19 racers was on hand including many time local champion Big T.  Second spot went to Mark Williams who won 6 segments on lanes 3 through 8.  Third was Shane Hiester winning 2 segments and finishing real strong.  Fourth spot was veteran Bob Amore who won 1 segment and made the top 5 even with a bubble out.  Rounding out the top 5 was Sheldon Hiester who also won 1 segment.  Other segment winners were Big T, Jim Levan.  Nick Wummer just missed the top 10.

Gilmore Gets Back in Victory Lane

Williams Wins Modified Opener

Mark Williams won the season opener for Modifieds at Randy’s Raceway to kick off the 2011 / 2012 season, our 11th consecutive.  Williams drove a fluorescent green modified and won in a real battle with Brett Gilmore.  Williams won 4 segments to Gilmore’s 5 segment wins to score his third straight Modified Feature win going back to last season.  Gilmore brought a replica of his 358 Modified bodied Tyco home runner-up.  [Read more…]

2010-2011 Modified Season Wrap

The fastest five

Brett Gilmore once again dominated the Modified division this past season winning the points championship by 66 points and taking 11 out of the 15 features.  Brett the Jet ran his career feature win total to 40.  He started the year with 6 straight wins.  Gilmore won 75 segments bringing his career segment total to 349.  Shane Hiester finished 2nd in points as he scored 5 feature runner ups and 41 segments on the season.  His career segment win total moves to 89, so he is only 11 short of becoming a 100 segment winner.  [Read more…]

Third Generation Dirt Modified Driver Gets Set for Action

Sixteen year old Brett Gilmore will be the driver of car #7 at Big Diamond Speedway this season.  Brett is the son of Current Modified Driver Kenny Gilmore who currently runs the #14 at Grandview. Brett is also the Grandson of Modified Driver Charley Gilmore.  Brett is the third generation from the Gilmore family who wheels Dirt Modifieds and comes from a long a sucsessfull career racing Go carts.  Mainly at Oreville Cart track in Topton Brett was a many time Champion and winner of more than 100 features.

Williams Wins Season Finale

Mark Williams won the season’s final Modified feature sweeping all 8 segments on his way to his second straight victory.  Williams drove the Kenny Gilmore prepared #14 to the win.  Shane Hiester ran a strong race to come home second winning 3 segments in his #357.  Sheldon Hiester was third at the line winning 4 segments in his blue #20.  Fourth spot went to Reading High Alumi Scott Bender in his Chico Bailey ride.  [Read more…]

Williams Wins First Modified Feature

Mark Williams returned to the winners circle in the modified division after a long absence at Randy’s Raceway.  Williams drove a new #14 Slot Body Central bodied modified to an 8 segment win night.  Second spot went to Sheldon Hiester who drove his fast #20 to 6 segment wins in his Hiesters special. Younger brother Shane finished 3rd with 5 segment wins in his #357.  Fourth was veteran Jim Levan who won 2 segments and rounding out the top five was steady Billy Decker.

Mall Race Goes to Gilmore

dsc_3148Brett Gilmore has kept his season going strong even with a change of locations for the weekly Randy’s Raceway show.  The young high school racer completed yet another sweep although another very young racer Peyton Kochel nearly won a segment from Brett.  Gilmore drove a replica Charley Gilmore bodied car making it his 10th win this season.  Sheldon Hiester scored his best mall finish ever coming home second just beating out his young nephew Payton.  Hiester won 3 segments and finished just 2 pieces of track ahead of Payton Kochel (7 years old) who won 3 segments driving a Kenny Gilmore prepared mount.

Brett The Jet Winner Again

Brett Gilmore continued his dominance at Randy’s Raceway in the Modified division winning once again and taking all 6 lanes on the tight Berks oval. Sheldon Hiester finished second in a Gilmore backup ride secured at the last minute. Hiester won 5 segments. Third spot went to Fred Mccullough who won 2 segments and really ran strong all night.

Levan Wins First of the Season in Modified

Veteran Jim Levan made a strong showing winning all 8 segments to win the Modified feature at the Berks speedplant named Randy’s Raceway.  Levan out of Reading won his first of the season in convincing style driving his familiar #1 white and orange coupe.
