Matt Light puts an exclamation point on his modified championship season at Randy’s Raceway by scoring his 2nd modified feature win on Championship Night

Matt Light has had an incredible season of slot car racing at Randy’s Raceway. Light won on 12/28 and then locked down the championship with a strong win tonight. But the most impressive stat has been the consistency Light has shown all season in his championship run. Light has 6 – 2nd place finishes and 1 – 3rd place finish in 15 modified events this season. Randy’s Raceway IROC Championship Night – Tuesday, March 15, 2022 – 8 Lane Oval Race Results

Tom Wenner and Brian Sponagle score IROC Feature wins while Michael Mackaravitz is crowned the 2022 Randy’s Raceway IROC Class Champion

Tuesday Night was the IROC Class Championship Night at Randy’s Raceway. A doubleheader on the Randy’s Raceway 8 Lane Oval using vintage original Non-Magnatraction AFX Chevelle Stockers and vintage original Non-Magnatraction AFX Corvette IROC Sets. Both sets were tuned by the godfather of Tjets Hiram Durant and track master Randy Jay Haydt before the nights racing action. Michael Mackaravitz came into the final event with a solid 50 point lead over Randy Jay Haydt and 58 points over Brian Sponagle in 3rd. [Read more…]

Randy’s Raceway 8 Lane Modified Race Results from Tuesday, March 8, 2022

Brian Sponagle scored the Tuesday Night 8 Lane TYCO 440×2 Modified feature win and locked down his 4th consecutive feature event win. Spoons has won IROC Tyco Trucks, IROC OS3 TFX Super Lates, TYCO NASCAR and this week’s TYCO Modified A Mains. Is it time to place a Bounty on Mr. Spoons for this week? Brian Sponagle won 2 segments on the Fast 8 Lane piloting his Team Haydt 44 Modified to the win. Matt Light finished in 2nd spot while racing next to Spoons all night. Light scored 3 segment wins on the evening. There is 1 Modified Race remaining on the ’21-22 schedule and Matt Light leads Randy Jay Haydt by 25 markers in the season championship standings heading into that final night. Our final podium finisher on the night was Mark Williams. The legendary Champion returned to Randy’s Raceway for competition and ripped off a strong podium finish. Mark won 2 segments on the night.

Brian Sponagle was on the mark when racing action opened at the famed Kutztown Speedway on Tuesday. Spoons set out to sweep the night of racing action and achieved the double feature event win. On the final night of racing action for the Fast Randy’s Raceway Tri-Oval, Spoons had his Team Haydt Tyco 440×2 flyin’. Spoons scored the NASCAR feature event win by 9 track sections over 2nd Place Matt Light while scoring 4 of the 6 segment wins. Shane Hiester closed the Coupe Modified Tri-Oval season at Randy’s Raceway with a strong win Tuesday Night. Shane won 4 of the 6 segments to score the win easily covering the win by 24 track sections. Finishing in 2nd place was Matt Light coming off a very strong season of racing at Randy’s Raceway with 1 segment win. Randy’s Raceway Sprint Car Results from Tuesday, February 15, 2022

Matt Light scores an impressive feature event win and ties Sheldon Hiester for the Randy’s Raceway point lead

Matt Light raced to the feature event win on Tuesday night with 2 segment wins. Light was on the mark with only 3 de-slots and had the field covered by almost a full lap. With the Tuesday Night victory Matt Light is now tied for the Randy’s Raceway Sprint Car Point Lead with Sheldon Hiester with only 1 Sprint Car race remaining on the ’21-22 season schedule. Scoring the 2nd place finish was Eric Beard. Eric is always very strong when the winged sprints hit the track. Eric won 3 segments on the night. Wrapping up the podium, Mike Fitzgerald with 1 segment win. Fitzie is on a tear of late with another solid run on the Randy’s Raceway 8 Lane Oval.

Sheldon Hiester adds to his Randy’s Raceway Sprint Car point lead with a strong feature win on Tuesday Night

3 Points separated the Top 3 in Randy’s Raceway points entering Tuesday Night. Sheldon Hiester entered the night with a 3 point lead over Randy Jay Haydt and Matt Light who were tied for 2nd place. Sheldon started the evening with a Zemco bodied 410 Sprint Car and finished with a Fast Freddy Rahmer body to seal the win. Sheldon scored 3 segment wins while cruising to the win. Finishing in 2nd was Matt Light who ran extremely well in scoring 5 segment wins. With the 2nd place run, Light will take over 2nd place in points. Wrapping up the podium run was track promoter Randy Jay Haydt. Randy scored 3 segment wins in his run to the podium.
