Cup racing returned to the Short Track Tuesday night and in another close night of racing Sheldon Hiester turned in 5 segment wins on way to his 1st Cup win of the season. Turning in a solid Runner up finish Jim Levan scored 4 segment wins on lanes 1 – 4, and just missed out of the win by 8 pieces of track. Sheldon Hiester Takes Win In Mods on the 8 Lane
Tuesday night January 8 was the first race of the New Year at Randy’s Raceway and it was for the Modified Division on the 8 Lane Oval. There were 15 racers in attendance for the event, and taking the event win was veteran Sheldon Hiester, who won 3 segments on his way to the victory. Second on the evening went to another veteran Jim Levan, who ran well and strong all night long. Jim won 4 segments on the way to his 2nd place finish. Randy’s Raceway Mid Season Review
Here is a quick recap of the season so far as we head into 2013. Big events still to come include a PA Tyco Series race and the huge Sprint Car 40 lapper Championship. Fred McCullough wins Holiday 2012 Sportsman at Randy’s Raceway
On Thursday night December 27, 2012 a special Sportsman race was held at Randy’s Raceway featuring 25 lap races on the 8-Lane oval. There were 19 racers in attendance for the event sponsored by Scott Bender Racing Photos. Taking the win was the always fast and steady Fred McCullough. Fred won 5 segments on the night. Second went to Sheldon Hiester in his Doug Hoffman Norm Hansell 357 replica body to honor the passing of the late Doug Hoffman. Sheldon won 6 segments on the night. Third went to Shane Hiester. Sheldon Hiester Wins Sportsman Tri-Oval Race
Tuesday December 18, at Randy’s Raceway had the Sportsman Division back in action on the tricky 6 lane Tri-Oval. There were 17 drivers on hand for the event, and taking the victory was Sheldon Hiester, who won 4 segments on the night. Finishing second in a strong run only 4 sections back of the winner was Fred McCullough, who won his first 5 segments, but then had to come back on and race Lane 1 for the last race of the evening and he got beat that race for his only segment loss which ended up taking him out of a victory. Shane Hiester Wins Regular Modified Show
Shane Hiester waited 4 years to score his first Modified Feature at Randy’s Raceway but only a few weeks to notch his second. He won the regularly scheduled show on the smooth Tri-Oval 6 lane. Hiester won 1 segment and had an unheard of 4 14.30 lap runs. Just missing a perfect night by 7 segments. Shane now has 141 segment wins at the Berks Ovals in a Modified. Second spot in a backup Sheldn Hiester car was Mark Williams. Williams won 3 segments, the third one became his 400th career Modified segment win. Finishing third and picking up 3 segment wins also was Bryan Kisthart in one of his best finishes at the Oval. [Read more…]
Kenny Gilmore Scores NASCAR Win
Making his 1st appearance of the year Kenny “Monk” Gilmore scored 7 segment wins to capture the win, becoming the 5th different winner in 6 events. Mark Williams scored 6 segment wins on way to a solid runner up finish, his 2nd top 5 finish of the season. Point leader Shane Hiester turned in a steady run all night, and notched 1 segment win on lane 8 to come home 3rd. [Read more…]

It was a Holiday Twin 15’s event on the Short track at Randy’s Raceway with the Sportsmen class starting the night off and Sheldon Hiester scored his 1st win of the year scoring 5 segment wins. Only 8 pieces of track behind Jim Levan scored 4 segment wins on the middle lanes to come home 2nd.The next 3 spots were separated by only 3 pieces of track. Decker Wins Modified Main Event
Veteran slot car enthusiast Billy Decker won the Modified feature at Randy’s Raceway driving his #04 bodied car. Billy was strong all night, staying on the lead lap in all 8 lanes. He picked up segment wins on lanes 4 through 6 and with those 3 segments he has tied Bob Amore for 6th place all time in the Modified ranks. Decker’s last win at Randy’s Raceway in the Mods was December 30, 2008 and this was a very popular win, the third of his long career. [Read more…]
Mark Williams Tames Tri-Oval
Cup racing made it’s 2nd appearance on the Tri-Oval, and Mark Williams broke out of an early season slump by scoring 5 segment wins on way to his 1st NASCAR win of the year. Randy Haydt turned in a strong 2nd place finish his 2nd top 5 of the year, winning 3 segments. Always steady Jim Levan scored 2 segment
